Why should they have to consult with their Priest (the middle MAN, human) to make sure its okay to receive communion? The Priest supposedly transforms the host to the body and blood of Christ then it should be between God and the parishioner if they want to/ can receive Communion. Why let a Priest, who is human like the rest of us, thus subject to worldly petty arguments/disagreements decide who can receive Jesus? Jesus opened himself up to the worst of the world (or so I was told in catholic school) but now when presented to the church - we have to consult with a Priest first? I went to a Catholic funeral mass with a very moral, non religious person. She had never been to a Catholic mass before. It came time for communion and she whispers to me "Is it okay if I go up there or do I have to stay back?" I told her it was more than okay for her to receive communion and she did. Other Catholics probably would've told her no but if that moral woman can't receive communion than nobody in the building should IMO
Please ignore me too! But the topic of this thread is "Religion: A respectful discussion", not a discussion about the priest abuse scandal from years ago. As I already proved here, the Catholic Church is the safest place for children today, as it's been for the vast majority of its history (with the exception of a brief scandal at the close of the 20th century, involving mostly priests who were dead and could not defend themselves). ....as for the Hitler comment, I said that Hitler also published what nazis considered to be "world class articles", a comment about the obscure article from India that you called "world class" just because it was from another country. And I keep posting all of the great things the Church does for people all around the world, including the most needy, so your last comment is a blatant lie. As long as you keep posting lies, we have to respond so somebody is not fooled into believing them.
I have to go now, but I will reply to this later...btw thank you for the respectful discussion, which this thread has been missing for awhile.
This sexual abuse did not happen decades ago or years ago. It's happening NOW. Stop with your naïveté. If we're going to discuss the fairy tale of all the good the Church does now you can't IGNORE the bad it is doing. It's infantile.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33082764 Pope Francis has approved the creation of a tribunal to hear cases of bishops accused of covering up child abuse by paedophile priests. •Germany - A priest, named only as Andreas L, admitted in 2012 to 280 counts of sexual abuse involving three boys over a decade •United States - Revelations about abuses in the 1990s by two Boston priests, Paul Shanley and John Geoghan, caused public outrage •Belgium - The bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned in April 2010 after admitting that he had sexually abused a boy for years •Italy - The Catholic Church in Italy admitted in 2010 that about 100 cases of paedophile priests had been reported over 10 years •Ireland - A 2009 report found that sexual and psychological abuse was "endemic" in Catholic-run industrial schools and orphanages for most of 20th Century
Dude I gotta say... that was fucking COOL. Lately it seems like all of our TV/movies and music are so damn cute. We have to be concerned when someone has a controversial take and all that jazz. Not only does nobody push the boundaries anymore in entertainment but nobody seems to even address dark matters. Your video is certainly "punk" rock and sad that we have to go back to previous eras to get a refreshing take.
Are you on a first-name basis? While you delight in your false humility and look to condemn others in your puffed up mind, in 'Truth' you're but a slap in the face to St. Paul's teachings regarding humility.
Stokes baby you need to let go of all this hate and fake stuff you're posting. are you kidding me Truth? deny till the end right? Embrace your faith if you truly believe in it thats fine but don't be indifferent or in denial about atrocities that go down everyday with this corporation you are fronting.
Thank you for reporting the TRUTH about what continues on today. It's not "polluting" a thread when you discuss the truth. Ignoring the truth and spewing idiotic talking points set down by church elders is not having a discussion. It's giving a Sermon. Hey, fancy that. _
See, here's the thing Tommy. I'm Roman Catholic--was brought up in the church and went to Mass every Sunday. Confession, communion, CCD, raised my children Catholic, married in a Catholic Church and my wife, a non-practicing Lutheran/Catholic went through the whole process to get confirmed when she was 44 DURING chemo and radiation so that she could be buried in a Catholic Cemetery--but mainly because she was praying for a miracle to allow her to spend her life with me and the kids. We even went to Lourdes in France to get bathed in the miracle spring waters hoping beyond hope. But I digress. So as I entered adolescence into adulthood, I found that some of the Church's teachings I did not agree with. And as I became more and more educated, I found even more I did not agree with and felt that some of it was complete hypocritical bullshit that only a lemming or sheep or naive children would believe. Some of the talking points handed down by Church elders were inapposite to what we all knew was going on underneath the belly of the beast. When I mentioned here that I was a Catholic but I didn't believe all of the Church's teachings, some mouthpiece said I didn't have the authority to pick and choose what I believed--that I wasn't smart enough to make those decisions (hey, I called their stance on evolution wrong WAY before they admitted they didn't know what the fuck they were talking about). Literally, some sniveling naive child was telling ME I couldn't decide what to believe and what not to believe. So I said to myself "self, I'm going to give that a try". And as we all know, we learn by words but most importantly we learn by ACTIONS. So when someone is spewing some nonsense that the Church is the safest place for children because they SAY they are --- but all the while thousands upon thousands of Priests are sexually abusing the most vulnerable of it's flock--namely the children who need protection the most--well guess what--I'm going to believe that the Church supports Priests raping and molesting children. Because they've protected them and moved them around and paid millions in hush money to hide these facts. That's the TRUTH. Deny it and you're a liar or naive or just being intentionally obtuse. So yeah, while I believe some of what the Church preaches, I don't believe all of it, don't agree with their stance on a lot of things. And I'll be damned if some sniveling little child is going to set the direction of this thread to suit his narrative (that isn't even his own-it was handed to him by his church elders because like most devout Catholics--they can't think for themselves) in the name of "respectful discussion". It's hypocritical bullshit. _
I know it is giving in to his trolling by posting here but while he is still allowed to spew his nonsense I will just post here and there to make sure his is not the last post in the thread. I know you and Tommy are doing the same, I just have a problem with morons like him polluting this board with nonsense.
I was warned by a mod to "leave the religious kid alone" so I will never quote him or respond directly to him again. And I've asked him respectfully to never quote me or respond directly to me but he continues to do so. Doesn't matter because I am going to continent to post what I believe to be the real truth about the Church until everyone admits it or until this tread gets locked. And I haven't even mentioned the Church's stance on gays or abortion or sex or contraception or women or marriage or just little piddly stupid shit they continue to do. _
i was born roman catholic. i dont buy any of it. i don't need my moraility spoon fed to me from a book written by people living in caves 2 thousand years ago. you need not explain yourself to me. the whole thought and idea of "original sin" is the most poisonous and horrible thing i may have ever heard of. i have no use for it, much to the chagrin of my 91 year old mom who is a very good catholic, but she walks the walk, shes not a finger pointing ass, just a lovely person. as far as your wife goes, im so sorry you two went through that. what a tough ordeal, at least you had her to love, many dont ever find that, so as much as it hurts, you did have the time you had.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding! Mr. Truth has made multiple trips into mortal sin territory again with his latest posts! He better be extremely careful this holiday season as it looks like he is in the red zone of burning forever in the fires of hell. He has also never responded to the suggestion, taken from writings of the very church he portends to support,
Truth should just put a huge sign on his forehead that says -"Closed for business. No longer accepting applications for any new ideas or truths" because a closed mind is what religion fuckin' thrives on
Hey now. Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are plenty of pious, religious folks who are nonetheless very open minded and intelligent. Some even post here. Aew comes to mind. I'm sure there are others. It's the nitwits like Truth who have no idea what they are talking about that you should direct your ridicule towards.
