According to radio you cannot challenge a "possession" determination, aka if/when a player officially establishes possession. In this case the ruling on the field was that Cotchery had never established possession, and since possession had not been established Mangini couldn't challenge that Cotch was down by contact.
One of the injuries was real - I remember thinking it was a flop but when they showed the replay, Thomas Jones had fallen on the back of the guy's leg, collapsing it, which is something you never want to see.
i have been thinking about it and there is no way that it could be possible to penalize this supposed flopping by the broncos. i believe they did flop during the game to stop the hurry up offense, but it wasn't like they had guys falling down with nobody around them once they saw the hurry up coming. yeah it feels really cheap and is very annoying but nothing can really be done about it.
The last of the 6 second half injuries (1 in the first half) was clearly meant to stop momentum. I had to DVR the game, (couldn't go because of a death in the family) and I watched Dre Bly getting ready to get up, and being told to stay down by a teammate. He then pretty much faked a limp off the field, while smirking, and was back two plays later. That said, we lost because the coaching staff got cute on offense, and didn't have the defense ready to play, or adjust to anything the Broncos did to them. But I would never put something like that past Shanahan.
Fuck the Broncos. Having to use a dirty tactic like faking injuries. If we meet again we will destory them
I think they call it diving in the NHL. That was gamesmanship not sportsmanship.... Whether and injury is real or not, at a certain point it should cost the team who is flopping.....
I lost a lot of respect for Shanahan yesterday, I've never seen anything like it. Three consecutive plays a guy gets 'hurt' and one or two other ones later all when the Jets are trying to go no-huddle.
