Second and goal from 2 feet out and they couldn't score. Just put Quinnen in the backfield and let him push White in on a QB sneak.

That and a cup of coffee will get you a 1-1 record.

LaFleur is so locked in on having the redzone offense be gimmicky because Zach Wilson needed it to be gimmicky.

I expect a much different looking red zone offense this week.

MLF loves Berrios because he is a swiss army knife that lets LaFleur run all kinds of gimmicky shit (reverses, jet sweeps, throwing the ball three yards short of the marker on 3rd down, etc). The problem is not Berrios - he is actually a very good #4 receiver (he'd be an average #3 on most teams). The problem is MLF insisting on running the cutesy nonsense because he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. If MLF runs another QB sneak from the 1 yard line (a play that just scored a TD on the previous series on the 1 yard line), instead of an empty-backfield shotgun pass, nobody is talking about Berrios today.

Going to tag @BrowningNagle in this response since we talked about it a few hours ago.

Nania just posted this aerial view of the play -- Fuck running. He NEEDS to hit this throw to Moore on the sideline. What a bad miss.

That was a terrible play especially considering where it came in the game. These plays are the ones that separate the elite QB's from the JAG QB's. Still lots of time for White to learn though.

Yeah... he had to throw that. He never would have made it out of bounds... he's too damn slow.

Would have been nice if he made the completion...

It seems like White thinks he's Abt to run past the line of scrimmage, hence why he ran sideways before he passed the ball. I think if he knew where he was at, he'd taken a step fwd and thrown a much better ball. He simply lost track of where he was at on the field. Even Mims was open on the play and mightve been a better option.

As far as White running on that scramble, I could see him getting a few yards. But he's not a running QB, so if he has a Receiver open you want him to throw it vs tucking the ball and taking off. We had plenty of opportunities, refs were making weird calls throughout the game.

But at the end of the day we had chances to win, but we simply didn't make the plays. Hopefully we learn from this and move on

Especially in the goal line scenario. I would put Mims, Ruckert, and Wilson and just have them get across the goal line and throw it high. Wilson has great leaping ability. Mims, Davis, and Ruckert could block out the sun at the goal line easy pitch and catch. But MFL has to complicate everything. One thing is for sure Conklin should be only a blocker going forward. He played awful.

I saw this on Twitter yesterday too.

I get MW isn't the most mobile guy back there but I think he could've gotten 6-7 yards easily, probably more, on this play as opposed to making a tight-window throw to Elijah on the sideline.

100% chance you're looking at a 4th & manageable (feel like he easily gets to the 15 yard line, probably closer to the 10) or a >30% chance on that tight window throw to be 1st and goal from the 6-7 yard line.

But, I'm not gonna be too critical of MW. He's still learning just like Zach was earlier this season. I think with time he'll learn to make smarter decisions in these situations.
