1993 was actually a fun year, it's the year we got O'Neill, Key, Boggs, Jim Abbott and Spike Owen. We actually competed for the div most of the year. I never felt we'd beat out that great Toronto team but it was fun competing again. It was the dawn of the dynasty years. I can't believe it's been 15 years since that year.

Who said we have made it since '93? That's the last time we missed the playoffs. The last Yankee-less playoffs was 1993.

They aren't having the hockey game.

We've been trying to figure that out since the sched came out. it just doesn't make sense especially since we weren't a lock to make it to October unlike most of the past decade+

2 runs should be more than enough to complete the sweep against this Yankee lineup.

For the record, F ESPN and all the little Boston homers that work there. "Sox go for sweep of fading Yankees." You already used that description, redundant f*cks.

And also for the record, the Yanks have been fading since the 10 game win streak, so they've already faded. Idiots...

Not sure what Ortiz is upset about there. It might have been a little outside, but you can't take that pitch with 2 strikes.

Blown call there, Pedroia was out. I guess that makes up for Ellsbury's steal.

Seriously? Giambi in a PH situation gets the job done. Unreal.

The keyword for this season is "unexpected".

There's no way Giambi comes back next year. If he does, every Yankee fan should revolt. If you're going to offer truckloads of cash, you get Teixeira.

Jeter's playoff batting average is 7 points lower than his regular season batting average.

And Ponson is a #^$% pitcher.

Not sure why Francona didn't go right to Masterson.

 I picked Cody Ransom for beat the streak, hoping he wouldn't play (your streak remains the same if the guy you pick doesn't get a plate appearance). He did play, and he got a hit!

Ransom has now gotten plate appearances in three games and has hits in all 3.

    3/4 overall for a .750 BA. .800 OBP. 2 homers and 5 RBI.

He had three homers in 140 at bats before the Yankees. First two at bats with the Yankees were homers.

    Yankees win.

Papelbon gives up an RBI single to Giambalco!

Masterson @#&% the bed. Gave up a single to Nady and then walked Matsui and Pudge. Papelbon had to face Giambalco with the bases loaded and one out.

Great game for Yankee first basemen.

Nothing like too little, too late.

At least it was another time beating Papelbon.

This one is completely on Francona. No reason to go to Okajima there. Oh well, I'll take 2 of 3, even though it should have been a sweep.

    Good/Bad BP news

Bad news: the bullpen blew it

Good news: that was Masterson's first crappy performance out of the pen
