My favorite part of this series is that it actually resembled baseball for once. This game is in extra innings and it's only like 3 1/2 hours, and two others were under 3 hours.
He scolds the ball and is out, then he hits a little grounder up the middle and wins the game. Good for Brett.
wow... Another Boston meltdown because of the bullpen. The Red Sox may struggle just to make the playoffs because of that so called "Bullpen". Before Pappelbon they are in serious trouble with Oki, Timlin and Delcarmen. Papelbon also has like what? 4 or 5 blown saves on the year? With 3 loses? Bad news for the Red Sox, the Yankees may just put the heat on em
Don't call the Yankees "Clutch" Because the Red Sox bullpen is turning into the laughing stock of the league, lol. The Yanks have always been known as a clutch team, but this Red Sox bullpen is funny to watch this year.
Gardner for presidente....that guy has some freaking wheels, and has a solid bat. I like it alot. If Girardi would ever take Jeter out of the 2 spot, I would love for a our lineup to look like this. Gardner Damon A-Rod Giambi Matsui Abreu Posada Jeter Cano all pending if Jeter ever gets his bat back this season
You act like Jeter is hitting .220, he's in the .280s and more than liekly he'll be back over .300 by the end of the year like he usually is. The man has also hit in 19 of 21 games and had a big RBI single last night.
yea, but damon is still hitting better then Jeter. I think he would be a very good #2, buts only if Gardner's hits start falling. Gardner could be very dangerous at the top of the order. I was never a fan of Abreu batting #3. I think Arod would be better suited there.
jeter had a big rbi last night, but also had a big error last night, that put a man on second.. he wouldnt have scored from first, but scored from second.. so his rbi was just making up for his error.. i would like to bat jeter 7th or 8th at this point as well.. he is awful at the dish this year
Schilling's explanation on the radio this morning: "I've talked to Manny about some of his at-bats and how he approaches hitting. Sometimes he walks into the box with tunnel vision, looking for one single pitch type, and he won't swing at anything else." Of course, down here on Planet Earth, we wonder why, even if that IS your approach, how you could stare disinterested at three pitches right down Main Street USA.
And, if it's baseball season, there must be the typical idiot fans causing violence in the name of Yankees-RedSox rivalry. This time, a Sox fan taking a bat to the shoulder of a Yankee fan after the fireworks on Cape Cod. Held without bail until his "dangerousness hearing" on Wednesday. http://www.capecodonline.com/ In other news, at the other end of the Cape, gay sex on Provincetown public beaches has inexplicably skyrocketed. Authorities are looking into any possible connection between the two news stories.
