Amazing play. I'll never seen the ball teetering on the top of a wall again in my lifetime. Johnnie Damon had to leave the game, of course. The embarrassment, and all.
I hate hats that are not the right color or design. They make me angry enough on the streets, but to see them in a Major League game is worse.
its in the case of the 4th of July. Its not like they are wearing lime green caps with diamond studs on them because they think they look baller....
Arent we short enough on outfielders? Besides Jackson, who in the minors could we bring up to play in case another OF goes down?
Well we have Justin Christian and Brett Gardner for now. The other OFs in AAA blow, so we'd have to make a trade.
MIKE LOWELL!!!! That was a stupid pitch for Molina to call. An inside fastball hitter up and he calls for that pitch with a guy who throws 88 MPH. Bad call.
Farnsworth's first pitch to Lugo was low and in the opposite batters box. Michael Kay - "The pitch... inside." Someone make him go away.
What a complete waste of 5 and half hours of my life. Rasner had zero control. Beckett looked like crap too. (Both looked to be getting squeezed though, so I don't know if it was my angle.) Damon should have remained in the game. It appeared he was saying he wanted to, but they pulled him anyway. He did hit the wall HARD though. My seats were in the upper deck, but almost parallel to where it happened, on the 3rd base side. As for Gardner, the kid sucks. For all you who want him over Melky, get over it. The kid is clueless both at the plate and on the field. He steadfastly refuses to hit the cutoff man, regardless of the situation, and he makes Damon's arm look like Dave Winfield's. From mid-left field he reaches ARod at third on two hops. I can do that with my left hand. After seeing him hit yesterday, it's no mystery that a knock on him is his affinity for striking out. This team is garbage. Bases loaded, one out, Giambi and Posada coming to the plate. Nothing. GTFOH. Guys coming up and hacking away down by 3 late. Nice. And here's where I really get down on this team, and think that maybe it's time to stop watching for the year. The attitude of the club SUCKS. It was so clear yesterday, and something you can't see on tv. When the grounds crew came out to start prepping for the restart, some of the guys came out to warm up. Giambi, Jeter, ARod, Cano, and Molina. In that order. Of all of them, ARod and Jeter seemed to be the only two that took their sprinting even remotely seriously. Giambi didn't bother doing anything but stretch. Molina didn't even do that much. Cano sprinted half-heartedly. After that, Jeter was having a catch with Molina. Molina was throwing from the NY behind home to Jeter about 10 yards past first. Nice long, hard throws. Then Cano walked over, next to Molina, and Jeter starts throwing to him too. Cano starts pretending to be a pitcher with the whole windup and all, so Molina makes a "forget this" motion with his glove and walks off. (A couple minutes later he and ARod starting throwing together seriously.) The even better example was a little later. While Edwar was warming up Melky decided that to go chat with Abreu. Okay, no biggie there. Edwar got through his throws, and was ready to pitch when Molina pointed at the outfield. Well, Melky was still in right chatting it up. Melky looked, realized everyone was waiting for him, and started jogging back to center. The whole time Edwar was just staring out at him. About 10-15 yards from his position, he waved at Edwar as if to say "Go ahead, I'm fine". It was nice to see Ramirez not go to the rubber. F you Melky. This team is disgusting. There's no heart anywhere on it. All these stars, and no one plays with any heart. This is where I take issue with people who complain about Yankees fans being ridiculous with their expectations. Normally I agree with, say, a Mets fan who says we should be thankful for what we've been able to watch over the past decade and a half. That's absolutely true. However, this "product" is just garbage. There's talent, but it just doesn't care. BTW: The only person in the Stadium that didn't think Crisp caught Jeter's hit in the ninth was the umpire. BTW2: The crowd seemed to be about a third Boston fans yesterday. And they're a lot louder than most Yankee fans. BTW3: The posted attendance was 55,104. After the rain delay ended, it looked like 1987 again. The bleachers were full. The upper-upper deck was packed. and there was blue everywhere else you looked. BTW4: There was an argument over doing the wave. One drunk girl was trying to get it started (which I wasn't in the mood for), and one dude was arguing that "real" Yankee fans don't do the wave. I know I've heard a number of people say "real Yankee fans don't do the wave". Well, then I say, "Where the hell were YOU in the 80s?" Cuz we sure as hell did it back then, and yes, the people in the bleachers did it too. We'd get 3-4 full Stadium rotations before it would end.
While part of me says yes, it wouldn't change anything. It's these players. And it's not Cashman either. The "talent" is there, it's the heart that's lacking. Girardi tried to get it in gear, but it's clear it's never going to happen. This team needs to be stripped this offseason. A total rebuild is necessary.
of course total rebuild is needed. Thats why I laugh when you and some others say its a transition year. how is it a transition year if we have the same bunch of slobs playing as we did last year. Perhaps next year will be a transition year, perhaps. And you CAN blame Cashman! You cant just say the talent is here. All he's been doing for 8 years is signing "superstars" to ridiculous contracts with Georges money.Any asshole off the street can do that. He has taken the lazy road to build his team year after year after year, and all the while the team has had the same shortcomings. Heres something I was thinking about this morning. Everyone says we are going to sign texeira in the off season. ummmm does that mean we are going to add another DH to this team in Posada? Why the hell did we sign posada for 4 more years if we are supposedly going with youth? Theres no plan at all. Cashman is an absolute clown. Ive asked several several times for someone to explain cashman's greatness to me and noone has ever come even close to making his case. Alio, you tried and your third best hilite of cashman's career was telling me that he signed contrerras.....Im still scratching my head over that one. Then you told me he locked up derek jeter????? this is an accomplishment? Casman needs to be fired!!!!!! And I think Im gonna get my wish very shortly
good stuff from you by the way Alio. The Melky story comes as no surprise though. You can just look at the way he handles himself and know hes a complete tool. His entire approach to the game is unprofessioanl and laughable. Not only does he have minor league skills(except his arm) but he has a minor league attitude. The fact that this man has been patroling centerfield for the new york yankees as long as he has is a complete embarrassment, which Ive said a thousand times. As far as Gardner goes....its early of course but uh I dont see it either. Michael Kay, the shill that he is, said the other day that the yankees hope gardner can be their ellsbury! huh? what? 10penn was giving usu pdates every day on this guy like he was the next great thing...I say hes bubba crosby...we'll see whos right.(pssst, bet on me). It was good to learn that at least Molina takes the game seriously. This carelss attitude has gone on way too long on this team and I think we all thought that it would in no way continue under Girardi. I guess we all over estimated Girardi's ability to control the team. We are behind the Baltimore Orioles on July 5th. Think about that
