Rolen isn't bad but I'd prefer someone with some more power.

i kind of feel these long layoffs francona likes to give his pitchers hurt more than help.

Yankees are about to take sole possession of the AL East! Eat our dust, Boston.

This month Bay is at 180/.379/.320, and Drew is at 127/.262/.273. Meanwhile, Papi is at .220/.277/.492 while Tek is at 195/.353/.366.

The offense should rebound. Bay and Drew aren't likely to continue this current shitshow. If they return to their career levels, the offense should at least be okay. Ortiz is a concern because of his earlier struggles and it could be that his true performance is somewhere between his June and his April/May. If that's the case, he's going to be a burden.

Tek is the biggest problem, IMO. His hitting fell of a real cliff last year, and he looked a absolutely pitiful last night. He's going to need rest. The Sox don't seem like they trust Kottaras to handle the staff, and they might be right given much worse the pitching performance's has been with him catching.

If this team is going to make a huge trade, it'll be for Martinez or Gonzalez. The Sox are in a decent position right now to have their team needs laid out so clearly. If the offense (especially Tek) continues to be this bad and there is any question about Lowell's health, I think a deal gets done.

I'd take Martinez and Rolen. That'd be a significant bump.

i really don't think gonzalez or martinez are on the block. unless you are willing to overpay HUGE for either of those players, those are the only blocks those teams have to build on.

I'd heard rumblings about them. Martinez seems more likely considering his age and the fact the Gonzalez is still cost-controlled for a few more years. More hope than anything else. If they were to make a blockbuster trade for a bat, which there is a .0001% chance of happening now, I still think they would go after them.

He's going to tell you that the upgrade isn't big enough and that offensively especially this team is still headed for the shitter. 85 wins here we come!

I don't know about 85 wins, but they still definitely have work to do. They upgraded the bench big time which is good, but they could still use another bat.
