I guess I just don't see the point in spending the time and energy to make a complaint within the thread when you could have avoided the thread altogether. Both you and I knew the thread looked like old news, so we really don't have anyone to blame but ourselves for reading the thread when we would could have just ignored it to begin with. I don't see why you need to spend 20-30 minutes reading an old news thread. Pretty much all you need to do is read the first post and/or the last page to determine whether or not there's anything new. Taking it a level deeper, if you want to complain about the thread - you might as well make a complaint to each individual user who posts in the thread for in essence keeping the thread alive. On top of all that, when someone makes a complaint like this, the OP is going to attack back, and then you have people jumping in on both sides of the fence and now have a runaway thread. As far as the ban, I believe it was for the personal attack and not the thread itself. The thread hasn't been merged or closed.
Speaking of runaway thread... I'd say you're as responsible as any of us for what the thread has now become. If everyone decides to post a new thread for every bit of information they couldn't be bothered to search the forums for, it would take a hell of a lot longer than 20 - 30 minutes to get any new information on the front page of the board.
