JEEEZ..... Who asked that question about Joe Beningo? Are you kidding me? Whoever that is, guy is an ass..... Joe is a Jets fan - He says what many of us think and believe - that's what's so funny - Joe doesn't make us feel the way we do, The Jets do. "Don't let your kids grow up to be a Jets fans".....LOL
I think it is a combination. Shotty is doing some poor play calling at times, and I think Sanchez is a little rushed and not making all his reads. I don't think the game has slowed down enough for him yet. He seems to be favoring one receiver at a time and going to him over and over without much regard for what the defense is doing.
Rex also mentioned the penalties that killed us and had us starting inside our own 20 a lot of the time. Start inside your 20 in the cold and wind with a rookie QB and you're limiting your options. My concern is it's Rex's job to eliminate the penalties, the buck stops with him. It's great that he lets the guys have fun and play loose, but you can't shoot yourself in the foot with penalties on every drive, that's on the coach. He has to fix it. He said they have refs in practice and work on it, they need to fix it, period.
Butterfingers Clowney???? The guy has had four passes thrown to him all season all four in the Dolphins game and he had four catches for 72 yards. Clowney had ONE ON ONE with no safety help and not once did Sanchez even look at him or was a streak called to take a shot.
All the people blaming Shotty are just trying to deflect their disapointment with our QB and put it on someone else. Shotty didn't lose this game for us. The players did.
It does seem like since Edwards got here Sanchez has been trying to force him some passes instead of spreading it around like he was earlier.
It would be interesting to see a bird's-eye view of the field from Sunday to see if Clowney was open at all. I'm guessing he was more than a few times and Sanchez missed his chances to get the ball to him.
Schotty should be taken out and shot at this point. This team would be better off with, dare I say it, Paul Hackett.
I find it pretty ironic that a person with an avatar of Braylon Edwards thinks the team would be better off with Hackett as OC.
We should have fired Schotty and hired Cam Cameron when he was available. Imagine what an OC like him would be able to do with all of these weapons that we have?
We probably should just have shit-canned Schotty and elevated Callahan to OC in the offseason. It's going to happen at the end of the season anyway, if things keep going like this.
Bottom line - Schotty called for passing plays in a game the Jets would have won by running and punting the entire second half. It is the CS job to read the game situation and put a rookie QB in a position to succeed, but most of all to win the game. How many of us would really be upset today if the Jets went conservative and won a 13-6 game by running and punting 5-6 times in the second half. Yes, there would have been booing from the crowd, but that would wear off in a day. The Jets would be 4-2. Sanchez would not have had his confidence crushed if he finished with a line of 8 of 17 for 88 yards and 1 INT and the only downer this week would be the Jenkins injury. Ryan and Schotty did not do what they said they would do - run the ball, play defense and make sure Sanchez doesn't lose the game while he gets time to grow up. The CS failed this test far more than Sanchez did. By all rights, he should be preparing for Oregon State this week rather than the Raiders.
Yes and how many would be bitching if they went conserative and lost 16-13 . In another post I pointed out all of the Ints with exception of the 2nd left the Bills within their own 40 yard line and most were on downfield passes. On a windy day in that stadium ther's no guarentee we would have gotten better filed position by punting.
Huh? The question is not whether to pass for an INT or to punt. The issue is that Schotty was calling passes in situations where he could and should have run the damned ball. We could have moved the chains running the football but Schotty was opting to have the rook qb throw the ball into the wind.
No we might have moved the chains by running the ball. There were plenty running plays that the Bills stopped . Someone else posted the % , I think it was like 40% of the run plays went for less than 2 yards. Bottom line they played agressively trying to put away an opponent - and I have no problem with that. Everyone blindly assumes that if we substitued runs for those passes - we would have gained yards and moved the chains. Its just as realistic that we would have been stopoped and forced to punt. That's where my point comes in, that if we did punt how would it have been compared filed position wise as to where we gave the ball over by Int.
I was for shit/canning shotty, and hiring Dan Henning...........but NNNNNNOOOOOOOO eh, it'll all work out, it's sanchez's 1st year......ya CAN'T lose sight of that, he's gonna shine as the years go
Problem with Henning his next move is probably retirement. The Jets need someone young who can grow and help develop Sanchez.
Right, we need someone like Josh McDaniels. He was primarily a QB coach and knew the position very well. He only moved up to OC because they didn't find anyone else, he had been QB coach for a while and knew the system well.
our running game clicked because sanchez was passing the ball. if we pussied up and went into a 'run only shell', the jills would have shut us down just like our running game was squashed the first 5 games this season. throwing to BE in triple coverage was brilliant.
