And much of what you said in another post I completely agree with. Unfortunately many Jets fans are a unique lot in that the fans would rather just blindly support their shitty players and say, "I told you so" rather than wanting to go out and try to improve the team to WIN championships. In this regard of wallowing in misery, Jets fans are unique.
I will always be a Jet fan its in my blood but we gotta reevaluate how we do business. I dont care about other teams, I care about our team and I dont like where we are headed
Your now thinking this? Things haven't exactly been good since we played the Steelers in the AFCCG. That off-season will forever be the off-season that ruined this regime. Magic can still be made this season, but it's going to take a miracle at this stage.
It would be a win at home because they have a rookie QB, but that stadium is fucking insane. They shat the bed there 4 years ago in the penultimate game of the season.
If those 2-3 catches are on obvious passing downs that sustain scoring drives.... It's not just that either, it's Kyle Wilson on #2s and Lankster on 3s, etc. on down. The safeties have to help in the pass, the front 7 has to actually create some havoc. This is a wide scoping issue. Don, your idea about how other teams don't have a Revis I have seen thrown around a number of times since Revis went down yesterday. Those other 31 teams were never expecting to have Revis and have their resources allocated a lot differently than we do. He is the cornerstone of our defense, the only unit worth a damn. And a lot of times, they play like ass too.
I try to stay positive but seeing how other teams operate then watching how shit fest I cant help but get worried
We will never win anything with Sanchez as our QB. We should get rid of Sanchez right now and bring in a stud free-agent QB like JP Losman or David Carr. Maybe we can get Jamarcuss Russel out of retirement . He could be our Ben Rothlessberger /derp
The Jets D-line will have to actually get pressure now and Cromartie will actually have to step up and be the fulltime#1 guy which he has been before. Both of these things are very possible. I think the loss of Revis could cost the Jets 2 to 3 games this year. If it costs them 2 games they could still make the playoffs, if it costs them 3 they probably won't.
yes but those other teams dont also base their defense on their CB shutting down the other teams #1 with no help alot of those other teams have avg linebackers or better alot of those teams have a pass rush alot of those other teams stop the run
I'd say Revis is about directly good for 2 or 3 wins per season with the way he allows the defense to play. I'll say it will be 3 because the offense hasn't showed that they will be very effective. I pegged them at 9-7 earlier.. and 2-1 at this point is exactly where I saw them being. 4-9 the rest of the way now makes sense. 6-10.
In the books: Buffalo - W @ Pittsburgh - L @ Miami - W To come: San Francisco-L vs. Houston-L vs. Indianapolis-W @New England-L vs. Miami-W BYE WEEK @Seattle-W @St. Louis-W vs. New England-L vs. Arizona-L @Jacksonville-W @Tennessee-W vs. San Diego-L @Buffalo-W Which leaves a total of 9-7, which is still not terrible. Could make the playoffs. Could. To be honest the only difference is I feel like we would have split the series with the Pats and maybe would have one at least one between the 49ers, Texans and Chargers. Now I think we don't stand a chance. Even without Revis we can still beat the Bills and Dolphins, Colts are a rebuilding team so we can take them, Jags and Titans are just plain bad and the Seahawks and Rams hardly terrify their opponents with their receiving game (although Rams aren't terrible). We might split between the Seahawks and Rams and end up 8-8, though.
And whose fault is that? That is why Tannenbaum should have been gone a long time ago. He chose to build an entire team around a fucking CB and give him all the money in the world. He is stupid enough to do it again too, just watch.
I would find it hard to find two games that Revis actually won for us. He plays his side of the field better than anybody but what does that mean exactly? That the QB just throws somewhere else for a few hundred yards a game maybe?
San Francisco-L vs. Houston-L vs. Indianapolis-W @New England-L vs. Miami-W BYE WEEK @Seattle-W @St. Louis-W vs. New England-L vs. Arizona-L @Jacksonville-W @Tennessee-L vs. San Diego-L @Buffalo-L W- 7 L - 9 Basically I have us going 7-9 rather than 9-7 but that is based more of the generally inconsistent and crappy play of the team rather than just losing Revis. I could seriously see this being Rex's last season with the Jets if we implode, much as I hope it doesnt happen.
San Francisco-L vs. Houston-L vs. Indianapolis-W @New England-L vs. Miami-W BYE WEEK @Seattle-L @St. Louis-L vs. New England-L vs. Arizona-L @Jacksonville-W @Tennessee-W vs. San Diego-L @Buffalo-L
New England will be fine and will win at least 10 games. They've lost close games to two very good teams. We're a 9-7, 10-6 team (and after the last two weeks I'd probably revisit that statement) with Revis, 7-9, 8-8 without, maybe worse.
Yeah there's definitely a sense of pessimism. I've seen crazier things happen in the NFL, it's funny sometimes the NFL. Things can turn on like a light-switch and all of a sudden, players just "get it". I'm really hoping some players on offense and defense step up. We can talk about the past really, and I prob shouldn't of brought that up, but hopefully things get better! Just stay positive and believe good things can happen, don't let the others tell ya different.
