He came out at different points. Let's not act like if he was healthy right now that Rex wouldn't have thought to let Pouha play running downs and Jenkins play passing downs.

I agree about the OLB. The position doesn't really matter though. It could be a young NT, OLB, or DE. It needs to be a guy who demands a double team consistently. That type of presence would make this current group look elite.

could very well be. The point is, the best cb in football is still part of a pretty lame secondary overall. We'd have been much better off spending the money on an elite pass rusher, whereever he lines up. He'd effect just about every play. Revis, not so much.

If they had some elite pass rusher to have spent Revis' money on I would agree with this more at this point but as it stands they just haven't found that guy. They can have Revis and the elite pass rusher... the problem is finding the elite pass rusher. You might get one or two coming out in every draft.

And the percentage of those who are 3-4 OLB's is not very good. I will say this though, at this point we could upgrade with an average pass rusher, we don't need elite to upgrade. It's disgusting how little pressure we're getting. This is why I'm begging to see more of Westerman. He can't be worse than old man Taylor out there.

A few decent pass rushers would be a huge help. The one elite guy is probably a pipe dream for us right now. A few younger guys who could collectively collapse the pocket would also make this defense much more effective. As bad as some the Jets blitzes look this year they are getting a ton of one on one matchups. None of their guys seem to be able to win a one on one matchup this year. 2 or 3 guys who could occasionally beat their man would be a huge upgrade.

While I doubt it happens, it's an intriguing idea. I can't comment on the logic of it logistically or anything, but I think it's an interesting idea to try it for a few plays.

Didn't the Pats do something similar with Harrison (moving him to CB) a few years ago to beat the Colts? I remember him talking about it on SNF a while back.

What's the worst that happens in trying this? The defence gets torched and gives up a long TD? They seem pretty capable of doing that without any position changes, so why not?

Agreed. I really think that this defence gets the help they need in the off season with a good young safety and a couple of pass rushers/DLs. Then it lets the playmakers we have be playmakers.
