All I was doing is pointing out facts. I know what Walsh said. I'll even show you posts I have made here in the past where I noted the quote. I had had no problems with you, until your reply here. You seriously need to chill out.
Walsh was the SF GM from 1999-2001 and then was a consultant for three years after that. QBs drafted by SF in those years- 1999- none 2000- Giovanni Carmazzi, 3rd round and Tim Rattay, 7th round 2001- none 2002- Brandon Doman, 5th round 2003- Ken Dorsey, 7th round 2004- Cody Pickett, 7th round Walsh may have said it is good to draft a QB every year, but he did not actually always draft a QB every year. I think it is interesting to look at one of his proteges- Mike Holmgren. He actually drafted some good QBs who were used as backups and then were traded. Green Bay 1992- Ty Detmer, 9th round 1993- Mark Brunell, 5th round 1994- none 1995- Jay Barker, 5th round 1996- Kyle Wachholtz, 7th round 1997- Ronnie McAda, 7th round 1998- Matt Hasselbeck, 6th round Seattle 1999- Brock Huard, 3rd round 2000- none 2001- Josh Booty, 6th round 2002- Jeff Kelly, 7th round 2003- Seneca Wallace, 4th round 2004- none 2005- David Greene, 3rd round 2006- none 2007- none 2008- none
its your arrogance that makes some of us want to go out of our way and correct you. Its the fact that your "the sky is falling with this draft" post is something we've all heard before and the trashing of the selections is now old news - along with the fact that those are the same comments uttered by people who didn't take a close look at the picks, but once after studying the selections they changed their minds. Therefore, due to that, the posts made by you look uninformed, thus causing the reaction of what is taking place.
well at least we can all agree on something. you're stupid and dont know jack about football. enjoy the day.
You can get free seats when I become GM. They'll be far from the field, but they'd be free. Maybe it'll educate you more than this board.
actually, if you look at my original post on this topic, there was no arrogance at all. anyone who has a opinion that does not go with the masses, is ridiculed, and pushed aside as being stupid, and unknowledgable. i, like everyone else, have a right to voice my opinions. when someone elses does not go along with my way of thinking, i don't tell them thier idiots, and know nothing about the game. there are a lot of people on this site, that need to get a life, myself included. to get so angry, and attack another person for having an opinion, is foolish.like i said, i am guilty of this, myself. maybe you should add another award at the end of the season, if you don't have it already. "most hated poster". from the looks of this thread, i'm winning by a mile!
Just let it go bro.. You got caught with your pants down and you were running off of information that was misleading post-draft. People have done their HW on what had concluded from our draft, and most of us feel comfortable with the direction and decesions that our FO has made this offseason. It is no big deal, you have your own view. Just let it go...
See what happens when you bash a rookie Jet... I'll give you some credit though bro. I did'nt watch the draft when the Jet drafted Keller. I called up a friend and he told me we traded up and drafted some TE while all the WRs were available. I was really pissed off about it for the whole day. However, when I came back home and watched Kellers videos on youtube, I thought to myself, finally a TE in the JETS team that can catch and run. Who cares if he can block or not. He can be used a pure WR and an optional/backup TE. He has great hands like Baker but has better speed and probably better route running than Baker. I've always wanted a Jason Witten type TE. Keller may not be that good, but he should be solid in the NFL.
Dude, heres the reason why some of the users got ticked off. You should'nt have gone into such an extreme measures with your second post in the thread as other people are also giving out their opinions. And just we clear, this was mine.
My first post will attempt to go back to the original question of the thread: How would I re-do the draft without trading for Kris Jenkins: 1 (6) Vernon Gholston, OLB, Ohio St. -- 6-4 260. Picked #6 by Jets 2 (36) Limas Sweed, WR, Texas -- 6-5 219 Picked #53 by Pittsburgh 3 (67) Dan Connor, ILB, Penn St. -- 6-3 231 Picked #74 by Minnesota 4 (102) Justin King, CB, Penn St. -- 6-0 186 Picked #101 by St. Louis 4 (113) Dre Moore, DE/DT, Maryland -- 6-4 311 Picked #115 by Tampa Bay 5 (141) Roy Schuening, OG, Oregon St. -- 6-4 306 Picked # 157 by St. Louis 6. (171) Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii -- 6-2 205 Picked # 186 by Washington 7. (211) Josh Barrett, S, Arizona St -- 6-3 231 Picked #220 by Denver I like this draft from a filling holes standpoint, but we really needed to make that Jenkins trade. I was fooling around with taking Red Bryant or Pat Sims but I didn't love where they got taken. I felt coming in we had to fill about the following holes: NT, CB, ILB, OLB, S, WR, OL (depth) Vernon Gholston was the right pick all the way. Rush OLB is the most important position in the 3-4 I couldn't believe how far Limas Sweed fell at the draft, and I always thought he was the #1 WR prospect. He's a good kid, a Mangini guy, with great size for a red zone fade. Dan Connor is another guy who I couldn't believe fell so far. I know a lot of teams want LBs who can drop back into coverage, but I think in our system Connor would thrive as another thumper right next to Harris in the middle Justin King has crazy good speed and good size, he never put up tremendous stats like a Lowery, but has substantially more upside Dre Moore would've made a better NT than D-Rob, but he's still no Jenkins. Still, he's a huge body and a great athlete for his size (ran around a 4.8 at 311 pounds) Roy Schuening is a guy I don't know much about was considered one of the top OG in the draft and if he falls that far you gotta take him. Colt Brennan is definitely a project, but in the 7th round it's worth taking a flier on him. At worst, he'll be a backup. You don't ask for much from a 7th rounder. Josh Barrett is a thumper in the defensive secondary. He'll look great next to Rhodes.
Seems like there were a lot of Dre Moore fans out there. Very surprised how far he dropped. Like him a lot because he seems to be a 3-4 DE all the way. Sorry, but not a big Dan Connor fan --- somehow I just get the feeling he wont be able to compete at the next level. Early on, Schuening was considered the best guard in the draft -- great value pick in the 5th.
Great value pick with the Giants stealing Jonathan Goff in the 5th round. I watched all the combines on NFL Network & trying to distinguish the differences between a Jerrod Mayo (1st round) & a Jonathan Goff (5th round) is like trying to split hairs.
The 2008 class was solid. Gholston will be a force once he transitions to OLB. Until then he'll be effective as a situational pass rusher. Keller is a stud receiver who'll be used as an H-Back, slot, even wideout. He's the real deal and might turn out to be the best receiver in this class. Lowery looks like he might be the #2 corner. About the only pick I wasn't too happy about was Ainge. I don't like his composure under fire at Tennessee.
anyone who has a opinion that does not go with the masses, is ridiculed, and pushed aside as being stupid, and unknowledgable. Tell me about it. Don't stop trying to get your message out there. This board need thinkers and not followers.
this board needs intelligent posters, not dilusional. Hey Jeaux, when was the last time one of your whacko predictions were right? I rest my case....
