I actually think rb is the safest position to draft in the first round. Bush, Deangelo, and White are all going to be great players.
I like Mo Drew and he might drop more since he's only 5'6". With that though, he's 5'6", 205 LBS. He's short compact and explosive as hell. He's a bigger Dunn.
yeah, i just read that. WTF, he measured in at like 5'8 at the senior bowl? It still doesnt bug me, this kid is still compactly built and can play. I'd take him in the 3rd rd. Have Houston pound it and then Drew come in and smoke the D for 6
After the first 4 are gone then the RB drop off seems steap. I rank the RBs in this order: Bush Williams Maroney - I see him as being an exceptional NFL back, I love his size and speed, great footwork too, I would rather trade down to get him then take White or Williams and come up with another pick to help the line White
5'6" 3/4's at the combine. The rest of it hasn't been released so I'm not sure of his exact weigh-in.
ill pass on drew and callhoun, if there any possible way to trade down grab maroney and get 2 Olinemen in the 2nd figuring that by trading down you pick up another teams 2nd round
I think DeAngelo will be the best pro, but I'd be happy with LenDale also...if not, any of the other guys (Maroney, Drew, Calhoun) would work for us, since we have a solid power back in Houston and those three are all slightly undersized guys with good speed. A good one-two punch a la the Steelers.
if we were able to trrade back into the 1st between the 20-30 maroney definetly would be a great target
Honestly, unless Blaylock gets cut (unlikely since there isn't any cap savings). I don't think the Jets would draft a RB besides for any of the top 4. With Curtis, Blaylock, and Houston do they really have room to carry another RB? Also since Houston was considered a 2nd/3rd round guy before the thyroid issue, is a Maurice Drew, Brian Calhoun, etc. really any more likely to be the long term answer at RB more than Cedric would?
A few of the guys I like in the mid to late rounds Maurice Drew (whom I actually have the Jets drafting my latest mock) Dontrelle Moore Jerious Norwood (Love this guy.....) Gerald Riggs Jr. As far as carrying 4 RB's I think Blaylock could get cut in training camp. We must keep reminding ourselves Herm and camp cupcake are gone alomg with the KC Connection....
5 foot 6 and 7/8s to be exact, but built like a tank, i wouldn't mind him he is compact and built so he could still be somewhat durable
Personally I think that a great o-line can make a running back. I'd say we go first round QB/OL, second round OL, and third round address our RB problem. I think Maurice Drew should be there then. (Plus he's an excellent punt returner.)
Your right I hope he last till our 3rd, i honestly think he can be a featured back...somewhat of a curtis martin style back
I could be wrong about Calhoun but for some reason these words keep popping in my head when I think about him Michael Bennet, Ron Dayne, Anthony Davis... what do they all have in common? They were all Wisconsin RB's who put up monster numbers in college but have done absolutely nothing in the NFL. That alone should set off alarms that maybe it's the system at Wisconsin as opposed to the talent level at the position. Very similar to the Broncos...
Calhoune is not originally a Wisconsin back... he transfered there from another major college. He is definately not a typical Badger back, he accells at all levels of play for a RB... Running inside and outside, blocking, and catching the ball, where the three you mention only accelled at one particular facet of the game. Ellis
Name: DonTrell Moore School: New Mexico Position: RB Height: 5'10" Weight: 212 lbs Scouting Reports: "DonTrell absolutely exploded this year. He put any final worries of his injury behind by rushing for over 1300 yards, and being named the MWC's Offensive Player of the year. He is the best RB of all time in the Mountain West Conference passing former San Diego St. Aztec RB Larry Ned, last year. He has all the tools needed to become an elite running back at the next level, speed, vision, quickness, good footwork, strength, and most importantly he attacks the holes with great intensity. With the help of his coaches, he has learned to play more physical, and has worked hard on getting better at pass blocking, a skill that is necessary to start at the professional level. In High School, DonTrell played golf allowing him to develop incredicble patience which he has carried onto the football field. Two years ago DonTrell was a premiere back in the MWC but was hampered by a sprained MCL in his left knee. Regardless of his tremendous talent, this is the deepest RB pool I have seen in the last 5 years. It is so deep that a great back like DonTrell might even slide as low as the 4th round. In any other draft this guy would be off the boards no later than the 2nd round. " He is also a real great character guy, like Curtis.
You are absolutely right....and remind me what he did again for Colorado in terms of production before coming to Wisconsin?? They were thinking about shifting his position.
You're wrong, a great oline makes a running back better, it doesn't make a running back, everybody likes to bring up the Broncos, but you have to remember that the last time they had a great running back, he carried them to 2 SBs. With an average back behind a good oline, will get you average results, and the great backs can carry your offense even with an average QB to where you need to go.
