Does the video really matter? He knock her out. What the hell did they think they was going to see. Every time I seen someone get punched it look just like that video.

No... If you looked at the video when she hit him again in the elevator he went to the other side of the elevator and when she rushed him he hit her

This is a travesty. Goodell must go!! Never before have hardened criminals and thugs been given such a slap on the wrist and allowed to play NFL games again after incidents of violence!!

The only thing that really bugs me is that Greg Hardy is still playing. This is a guy who was CONVICTED of assaulting his girlfriend. There were numerous witnesses and tons of evidence that corroborated the assault. Why isn't he suspended indefinitely? The ONLY reason is his actions weren't caught on tape. That seems very unfair to me.

Goodell opened this can of worms when he started suspending people left & right. I agree that the NFL has no obligation to be the police but at the same time they can't have it both ways and complain when they have been trying to be the police for years now.

Tagliabue never really messed with personal conduct suspensions. A lot of people had problems with that but I really didn't. It should be ran like a business and if some team wants to deal with jackasses and criminals in their organizations, then fine.. The police were the legal and moral tacticians, as it should be. Of course, some organizations would be run with higher standards than others anyway -not unlike the business world.

The NFL, it's players and coaches shouldn't be looked at as moral heroes anyway. But Goodell came in and decided he was going to change everything and suspend people based on accusations, shaky moral barometers, etc. He purposely started going down that slippery slope when he didn't have too.

So now it's hard to feel sympathetic to his cause when he has fucked it up for years. He suspends a kid (pryor) for 6 games for allegedly trying to make money off of his namesake before ever entering the league and yet when a player in the league knocks his woman unconscious he gives 2 games... but "hindsight is 20/20" because he didn't have more information???? Fuck that!

Goodell is the biggest piece of shit and deserves all the criticism he will get for this. It's a witch hunt league now because he started making it a witch hunt league so he can experience the same treatment. I thought he should've been fired a long time ago but if this is the situation that lands his hands out of our beloved game then I will take it.

I don't think he has done a good job either, what I meant from the hindsight is 20/20 comment is that everyone of us can look back after all the information is out via the media and say he did a bad job.

The police did not give the NFL or RG the video during the investigation.

That's what guys don't understand, just because TMZ got it, they obviously did not get it legally.

Roger could not have made a decision based on a video that he did not see.

That's probably why he only game him 2 games initially and afterwards took more serious action.

I do agree with you, he should stay out of peoples personal lives and let the legal system do their job.

To answer the question, I would have to say yes, but that's partly because I think there's not much upside in keeping Goodell.

That being the case, the mess he's made here for the sport is reason enough to terminate his contract.

So Ray Rice is now immediately reinstated and can sign with any team any time.

The Jets don't need him. And actually his game was on a downward slide even before all of this hoopla started. He said he's sorry and there doesn't seem to be a body of evidence that he's a serial wife beater. It could have been a one time deal. Although usually that kind of a punch signifies a serious problem and total disrespect for his wife as his life partner or even just as a fellow human being.

There's no way in fuck that anyone is going to sign him. But he should get paid for all but 2 weeks. Nice Thanksgiving present to a flawed but not terrible man. And his wife is great for standing up for him. Peace to them both.

Why? He's washed up as a football player (not worth the off-field distractions) and all the Ravens' other backups running wild since Rice and his 3.1 YPC last year was shown the door proves it.

He was playing with an injury in 2013. The Ravens added Gary Kubiac and upgraded there o-line this year. You could be right but your logic seems flawed to me.

Time will tell. I am guessing someone takes a flyer on him since he's proven to be a very good back when healthy and he'll likely come relatively cheap this year.

I wonder what kind of case Rice would have against the NFL. Goodell really poisoned the well in regards to Rice and damaged his ability to sign with another team.

How's this for a non-story story? "4 teams reportedly expressing interest".

Two unnamed teams and two teams interested but not expected to pursue him. Lol.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11957981/four-teams-looking-ray-rice

I still don't know why Indy wouldn't, considering what a wild card Irsay is. Maybe the league has told him to forget it.

I have to figure a team like the Broncos could sign him and downplay the publicity damage with a strong GM and a very strong QB/leader.

^^C'mon JS--the trouble and financial cost to a franchise would far exceed any benefit they would gain. This is not going to happen this year and probably never at all. He's out of the NFL.

Your scenario with the Broncos would be interesting for AP who may be worth the trouble.
