Fair enough. You're a good guy and one of my favorite posters. I respect your opinion, am just surprised, because I thought you were one of us who were tired of the circus around the Jets. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. Even if he still has something left in his tank, I just think the public relations backlash would be a disaster and would serve to undermine and probably sink the new regime before they even get started. I hope Rice gets straightened out, but at this point, I care more about the team than I do him. Let him get his second chance in life and/or the NFL elsewhere. I will point out that he may not have gotten in trouble before, but wife beaters don't just suddenly one day turn abusive. There's a pattern of behavior. Most likely, he has been verbally and physically abusing her for years. That's just the first time it was in public and filmed. It just seems to me that if you were really concerned about him getting a second chance in society, you'd want him to get counseling, focusing on getting his anger under control, and understanding why/how he became an abuser in the first place.
I hear you and can't say I totally disagree. Most fans though have a short memory and the first big game he has you'll here jeers turn to cheers. I kinda have a hard time thinking the new regime would make such a controversial move in their first splash out of the gate so I kinda take this rumour with a grain of salt, don't really see it happening . Thanks for the compliment though, I'm all for a spirited debate , no reason posters can't disagree without trying to kill each other's dogs and stuff lol. Enjoy the game today, GO HAWKS! hey look, the mods should atleast close or change the title of this thread there is no evidence to support this claim
With regard to your bolded sentence, you may not see people getting fired or losing clients, patients, etc., but it happens. You have a valid point about the honor of the NFL and its BS commish, and the rest. But are you willing to just accept that? I'm not. Things won't get better by just turning a blind eye. We're then no better than Goodell and a hypocritical. If they're not going to clean their act up, they should change their name to the National Felon League. perhaps they should lose their anti-trust protection, and get reamed in the press until they do clean up their act. I, for one, won't continue following and watching if they don't. I understand how greed causes some of the owners to conveniently forget morals, but I don't understand how they can be so stupid to think that they can lose advertising revenue and fan $s if it continues. I think Goodell's actions later last year show that the owners are realizing that they must clean up their act. I also don't understand how the owners can tolerate Goodell's blatant favoritism towards the Patriots and how he turns a blind eye to their cheating.
I truly hope not. It is time the Jets seeks headlines and back page exposure by what they do on the field and not off of it.
Why does it surprise anyone players get into trouble? They are still human no matter how much money they make. Plus a lot of these guys are from the gheto. You can take the man out of the gheto but you can't take the gheto out of the man.
Why are people getting butt hurt about what Ray Rice did? Donte Stallworth drove drunk and killed a guy and came back like it was nothing. What Ray did wasn't a good move but people have done worse. I don't want him because he was terrible when he last played.
Rice's play had been going downward even before this incident. But he's still a good player and probably will be trying to prove himself again. He was punished and his wife forgave him. And doesn't seem like it was recurring abuse.
I'm not "butthurt". That expression is moronic. Grow up. I think men that hit women are cowards, bullies, and beneath contempt. I think they should be put in prison where they are beaten and raped and see what it's like.
I would rather get Marshawn Lynch. He's going to be a pissed off motherfucker with a chip on his shoulder next season.
Hah, the kid who started this rumor just blocked me on Twitter for asking him if we were still going to be hearing about the Rice contract today or tomorrow.
Its sad that there's actually people who belive guys like Barlottea....Someone needs to close this crap
