I never said it was going out on the limb, heck I said in the presseason the Pats were going to the super bowl. They won't win it though. I've been arguing with pats fans over this for nearly a decade and each time I have been correct. That's the facts, it's not my opinion.
I'm hoping the Ravens can pull this one out. It will be tough though. Win or lose, it's high time people give Joe Flacco more respect. He's among the elite QBs in this league I don't care what people say. I'd kill to have him here in NY even with that contract.
1) As others have said, considering there is a 1/32 chance of winning at the start of the season and a 1/12 chance in the playoffs, you aren't exactly going out on a limb. 2) I'm assuming you were wrong in 2004-2005. Considering that the odds are approximately 97% they do not win the SB and you have been right 91% of the time, you are doing worse than the average. Good job.
2005 was the first nfl season I watched. Jets-Chargers 2004 playoff game was the first game I ever watched. Time will tell.
In what world are the odds 1/32 at the beginning of the season or 1/12 at the start of the playoffs? We aren't rolling dice or flipping coins; these aren't random independent variables. If you made a team of my friends and myself and put us in the NFL playoffs, we wouldn't have a 1/12 shot of winning the Super Bowl. The Pats have always had pretty good odds of winning it all and they've been failing to capitalize on those chances.
Exactly. The playoffs are much closer to being a 1/12 shot but at the start of the season not every team has a 1/32 chance.. Teams are clearly better than others.
I was predicting an easy win, that was anything but. Definitely unerestimated the Ravens, they should be a good team next year when their 18 players on IR return.
It was a fun game, better team won, and you can't say this time they had the refs in their pocket. I will say, as entertaining as it was, the NFL is now pretty much like watching arena football. There should be no way a team wins in the playoffs in 12 degree weather with only 14 yards on the ground.
agreed. I usually prefer low scoring "rock 'em sock 'em robots" type games over high scoring ones, but that was a very entertaining game last night. Aside from that last pass
No, it is 1/32 shot; that's a statistically factual position. You are both confusing betting odds, which are opinions, with statistical facts.
As mad as I would have been about the loss I think over time I would come to see it as one of the greatest playoff games ever. I'm pretty sure that almost everyfan with no rooting interest would probably agree its the most entertaining post season game in a few years. Maybe since the AZ PIT Super Bowl or the AZ GB Wildcard game.
