Jack Trudeau lit it up in the 1994 preseason. I remember that. Some people were calling for him to start over Boomer.
Clemens gets easily rattled. Sanchez and Ainge have both looked, at least from the small amount of time we got to see them, calm in the pocket. They didn't make many mistakes because of that. I saw the same thing out of Tom Savage today for Rutgers. He's a freshman, but he was very calm in the pocket, and he wound up doing well for his first game. I guess sometimes it doesn't matter if guys are young. If they remain calm and they don't try to force things too much, then they'll be less prone to mistakes. I think both Sanchez and Ainge provide that for us. They don't have to be superstars. They just have to do enough to get the ball to the right guys (and running backs) and keep the chains moving forward.
Huh ... usually those afflicted with "Ratliffism" tend to be the same ones with "Clowney Syndrom." More generally , the term I have heard is "Mr. August." Matt Hasselbeck got called that after three years in Green Bay, playing only preseason, but playing well then. So ... there is some hope that it means something at least.
