as a guy who felt this fo was going to do great things i am leaving this draft wondering if they have any fucking idea whats going on in the world. lee pick i am ok with. he isnt prottypical but thats fine by me. hackenburg i dont understand at that spot but he would probably have been gone and maybe just maybe they see something the rest of the world doesnt seem to see. or they watched too much tape of him when he was 18. who drafts a punter in this day and age? wtf. trading away a 4th round pick, which have usually proven to be very very good players is beyond me. for an OL that really isnt very special. and and injured guy. i honestly dont think i can understand any of what they did here in this draft. other than draft linebackers.
You grade your team lower because they and 31 other teams had a player rated lower than you did. And your team still drafted him. Lmfao.
Suspect draft....This draft will define Macs tenure here ...If they end up being busts Macs tenure here won't be very long.We still don't know what we have in last years second round pick Devin Smith. We should trade out of the second round every year because we just never get it right.Jace Amaro,Geno Smith,Stephen Hill,Devin Smith, and now add Christian Hackenberg to the list
I don't necessarily see any harm in this exercise, but it does feel a bit like trying to predict the weather a month or two in advance.
Fuckin A Cotton, fucking A. I wanted an ILB, an OLB, a big ass tackle, a big fast WR and a fucking punter. Well we got two punters- one of the dudes I wanted in Hackett- we got a fast and super athletic three down LB in Lee, we got a very solid OLB In Jenkins, a massive RT/G in Shell, a big physical CB in Buress, a wild card in Hack and a potential steal of a WR. And no Connor Cook. Fucking A Cotton, fucking A. _
I think that's a fair assessment. I didn't like it till the 3rd round when we started addressing needs. I hope Peake can replace the butterfingers Enunwa.
My grade matters not, of course; but, if I could give it a grade, I'd give it a solid A- or B+. [If Hack does turn out to be a franchise QB, it will be a slam dunk A+] Weakness in LBs - filled. A pick at QB - filled. ST players - filled. OT project - filled. What is not to like? Especially - I like the Hack pick more as I keep a longer look into the film.
That's part of the fun. No one would like the draft if it was your full time job. Everyone has that guy or guys they want to draft for their team. Then they watch to see if actually happens. Then you have the meltdowns from the fans in 1995 when Warren Sapp was there for the Jets and they took Kyle Brady.
It helps fill the endless void before preseason known as the offseason. It also allows those who get it right to say I told you so to those who don't (especially to those who give every Jet pick an A even if they couldn't care less about the guy until the Jets took him so he must be the BPA).
How anyone can complain that we drafted a punter (in the 7th round) is beyond me ..... have you guys watched the games in recent year ..... some fans are just down on life
In regards to the poster who said we should trade our second rounders I would tend to agree just trade em forever lol http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/draft.htm
Darron Lee OLB: A - He'll be an ILB for the Jets and he's in the mold of the future NFL, aka the way the NFL is moving. I probably wouldn't have taken him but he was a top 10-15 talent that we got at 20. Can't hate the pick. Christian Hackenberg QB: B - I'd give this an A if it was the third round but honestly I don't think he would have been on the board at our pick in the third. He was my best rated QB outside of the top 2 or 3 and Paxton, imho wasn't worth a first. (aka I would have given a D for Paxton in the first, but an A+ if he'd been there at 20 in the 2nd. Jordan Jenkins OLB: B - I don't hate this pick, and I'm probably judging it too harshly since the Jets did need a pass rusher on the outside. But with Kendall fuller, Pharoh, and a few OL that were on the board still I knocked it down a little. Juston Burris CB/S: C - I really want to give this a lower grade because it feels like a reach for me. I also don't know much about him other than he was ranked by most sites around 30th in depth for CB's in the draft. But I'll give it the benefit of a doubt with a C. Brandon Shell OT: D- This grade isn't so much about Shell as it is about what they gave up to get him. Other than his HOF bloodline most sites had him at a 6th or 7th rounder, CBS had him as a 7th, NFL.com 6th. He wasn't even an OL I was looking at. But giving up a 4th round pick next year for a late round pick value? Over priced reach in my book. If they hadn't traded a 4th for a 5th I'd give it a C. Lachland Edwards PT: A I have no complaints about a punter in round 7, would have been an A+ if the punter had a different name (but it's okay, we signed my man as a UDFA so there will be a competition). Charone Peake WR: A+ At first I didn't know who he was. But after watching some clips, reading up on him I like this pick a lot and could well be the star of the draft if he hits, of course he has a big bust potential (largely due to injuries) Overall I give the draft a B+ grade at this point in time. Of course as with any draft we won't know till 3 or 4 years down the road, all we can do at this point is comment on how it feels.
B-/C+ looks about right at the moment. Hated the trade up but liked who they took with it. Hackenberg is a love it or hate it pick and we don't know which way that is going. Lee and Jenkins were good picks.
Lol, I forgot the Jets had drafted Herb Adderly in 61...he of course opted to go with Greenbay in the NFL instead of the upstart AFL...but damn, so close.
I'll give it a C+. I would have awarded a higher grade if any of the picks would have allowed us to cut Breno. I've just purchased some baby crows that should mature in around 3 years time and be ready for eating.
