It just kills me that this could have been our draft: 4) Matt Leinart 29) Chad Jackson 35) Winston Justice 71) Chris Gocong 97) Max Jean-Giles (Kendall could've played C) but we ended up with what we did. That's why I gave it a C-.
ALot of things could have been our draft man. You don't know.... Every team affect every other team. In more ways than 1 sometimes....
B+ we addressed what we needed to address, the OLINE is the most important thing to have for a football team, and good pick with clemens... Shlegel and smith don't know them but who cares im happy with the first 3 picks. People here are upset because they wanted to address something we are not in need of, fuck that we needed a OLINE and we got it now, LT ferguson, LG kendall, C mangold, RG moore, RT jones hybrid. And a QB with smarts and a good arm.
First 2 picks A Last 3 picks F So with A cancelling F and vice versa Day 1 = C. Why another QB like Bollinger? Why get 2 FA rejects from the pats then draft another LB? Why another safety who will probable end up on STs? We didn't make the sexy picks but 4 sure the last 2 were a total waste but didn't the pats draft Mankins in the 1st who was very good? I want to have faith in the new FO but wtf was up with the last 2 picks?
It looks like the majority say a b/b- grade, and I agree. We could have done so uch better. With all the 1st day picks and we do nothing except possible fix the OL.
C+. Mangold saved our draft. An O-Lineman is NOT worth a 4th and the rest of the picks looked like pure Panic!!!
I gave a B+ I still wanted Leinart, but its hard to really get mad and stay mad at getting D'brick, Mangold (the best rated Center) and Clemmons (Hopefully will be a stud), schleigel is solid maybe not the best pick but he'll be solid, E Smith is a waste. So they filled needs, but had two questionable picks so i go with a B+
I voted B. For those complaining we did not get the 'PRETTY', 'FLASHY', 'GLAMOROUS' pick, your just plain bugging. Bush, White, Williams (Deangelo) or Lienart would have been DESTROYED behind our O-Line. Games are won and lost in the trenches, I think we did pretty well, the ONLY picks I question are Schlegel and Smith. How the hell can you complain when we got a pretty good QB to work with behind, Ramsey and Pennington during the next couple seasons we still have Cedric Houston and we are REBUILDING, we are NOT going to the Playoffs this year, lets make that clear. Our O-line is now solidified, we picked up an extra pick in the '07 Draft, we still have day 2 and we still have the rest of the off season to find a RB. Even though his best days are behind him we STILL have CMart for at least ONE more season. So lets not jump off buildings yet.
D.....the last two picks are mind boggling To think we thought 71 and our two firsts was too much to trade up for bush........WTF did we do with the picks, we through them out the window......what a god damn joke. Aside from the first round I F'n hate this draft
I give it a B. I think with the picks we had it was hard to draft anything worse than a B even if we drew names out of a hat. D'Brick Mangold Loved the first two picks. Believe it or not we are a rebuilding, and that should always start with the O'line. The third pick is where I started to scratch my head. I dont think we should have traded down. I think we should have drafted White or Justice. I think White could have been a dominate third and short back and Justice was probably the best player available. All in all I'm satisfied.
My problem with the first day of this draft is I believe the Pats improved more than we did with their day 1 picks. The biggest weakness of our team is at RT, the middle of our line and at the skill positions. We addressed our holes with 1 pick, Nick Mangold. Granted D'Brick was the highest player on the board at 4 and that made him the safe pick but I don't think he upgrades our team to any great extent since I don't believe Jones will be a good RT and I think he has the potential to be a solid NFL starting LT as does D'Brick in a year or two. This draft hinges on Clemens. If he pans out as a franchise caliber QB who can make every throw great draft, if he turns out to be Gus Forret, the draft is a bust unless a second day pick turns into the next Terrell Davis of Tom Brady. I was extremely happy we passed on Leinart. Playing indoors and in perfect whether with 3 great players around him will make him look good. I don't believe he has an NFL arm and in our confrence would have been horrible.
i gave it a C. i like the 1st 3 picks.. but they blew the entire 3rd rd. you just cant do that when your rebuilding. shoulda just took the BPA. smith isnt better than any safety we have on our roster right now. you could have A for the 1st 2 rds. But round 3 was a reachfest they get a F for that round.
