Sanchez did not flat out beat geno. How can someone here say that? Sanchez looked just as bad as geno did. Actually they both were turning the ball over and showed some decent drives. Sanchez still was throwing picks that should have been thrown away or take the sack in his preseason game(s).

It wasn't close, both had Tos but we were scoring w/ Mark. To be fair Geno lost his chance when he got hurt, if he doesn't get hurt there maybe he has a chance? but he did and he was awful against NYG on the night the "competition" was decided.

The fact that Sanchez could not separate himself from a rookie told me everything I needed to know.

The preseason games IMO hurt Mark Sanchez then helped. Geno was having the better practices, then he got injured - that's when Mark took over, then he got hurt.

He had TOs in each preseason game as a 5th year vet. And he was still throwing pick 6s to defensive lineman. He exhibited the same things that made fans detest him. I didn't see any improve except for the offensive scheme itself.

Y'know, I more than buy the argument that Sanchez won the QB competition, I almost buy the argument that we would be 3-1 with Sanchez, and then you out-do yourself with the bullshit above. What gives you the idea that our not-even-mediocre offense could even get to 13-3?

Geno did not get sufficient playing time and it was his first live NFL action.
Mark came out and clearly told the media "If I did not get hurt, I felt I won the competition". Of course he is gonna say that but rex nor Izdik did not say anything about it at all.
Mark said it cause he wants a second chance and I cannot blame him for saying he beat out a rookie. He would have lost if it was the same situation as what happen in SEA with wilson .

I am not really sure Geno was having the better practices at the start of T.C.

he also showed great improvement and a command of the new offense despite missing key weapons from the offense.

    That was a joke.

Look at all of the results from TC early on. Geno came in and started pretty good, I was not expecting it that's for sure. Mark and Geno were neck and neck, but it appeared as Geno continued to play well, Mark started sucking. Geno gets hurt, Mark plays better, then MS gets hurt.

I would of started Mark early in the season, but if he started slipping up I would of benched him. I believed Geno was not ready to start at the NFL level. Lack of #1 team reps in practice and in the preseason.

But I just didn't see as much separation in practice - that bothered me about Mark a lot.

Geno was supposed to be a top 10 pick, he's a talented player. The fact that in practice not getting hit geno and mark were "close" wasn't alarming at all.

I am sorry but I do remember some early rumblings about geno back before TC with the coaching staff.

Players tend to drop in the draft if you haven't noticed. Mark should of separated himself during practice EARLY on and should of made a case for himself to start. It was Geno who started off hot in TC and cooled off due to injury. That's alarming on Mark's part. If you want to start, day one you go out there and prove it. Don't turn the football over. Remember when Marty, said regardless of injury, Geno would of been the best fit?

Mark never made a case to start, and didn't prove anything other then knowing some of the play-book.

I'm talking strictly TC and beyond. I do remember that article, he made a lot of positive strides from OTA to TC.

Actually Rex did say something..he said that's his opinion. And that said it all.

junc, were you at tc? at otas? at rookie camp? at all the meetings?

exactly so dont tell anyone what happened because you watched a couple pre season games. decisions are often not made based upon pre season games. they are NEVER solely based upon them.

you infer alot of things junc, thats why you get blasted constantly.

You do have a way at deflecting so you never actually answer any question you don't like.

what question did I deflect? someone takes a shot at me saying I wasn't there all camp but NEITHER WERE ANY OF US. All we can go by were the reports from camp and what we saw in preseason, based on that(alone it was a slam dunk in Mark's favor.

I think it goes w/o saying that none of us can truly evaluate, none of us know the responsibilities of any player on a given play. If we use that criteria we will never be able to have a productive discussion- then again many of you guys never engage in any productive discussions anyway.
