Snell made as many Pro Bowls as Freeman, and he ran for 121 yards in Super Bowl III. All that, and a fullback, too!
Don't forget number 33 among your short timers. Kevin Long, one of the tallest RBs the Jets ever had, rushed for around 950 yards in 1978 while splitting carries with Gaines and Dierking.
1. Freeman McNeil 2. Matt Snell 3. Curtis Martin 4. John Riggins 5. Emerson Boozer 6. Bruce Harper 7. Richie Anderson 8. Jerrald Sowell 9. Adrian Murell 10. Johnny Johnson
1) Curtis Martin - the most production 2) Freeman McNeil - the best runner 3) Matt Snell - the most powerful 4) John Riggins - you could see his ability 5) Johnnie Hector - all around star prior to injury 6) Emerson Boozer - all around everything 7) Clark Gaines - best pass catcher 8) Adrian Murrel 9) Kevin Long - left for the USFL 10) Johnnie Johnson
My dad was a big Kevin Long fan. That was one of my favorite seasons growing up, 1978. Clark Gaines looked awesome as a rookie in 76 and then he never sustained it.
McNeil was a dominant back when he played, the problem was he was always hurt. I love Curtis but if Freeman could have staye dhealthy he easily would be the best RB Jets history and a HOFer.
