last year when he pitched us to a division title? Randy is hit or miss these days, hopefully when he's struggling our bats can save him.
Well, in good Yankee news, they said during the game last night that Joe has already decided that Wang will pitch game 1 at Yankee Stadium of the first series. Moose will pitch game 2. They want Wang on the mound at Yankee Stadium, which is smart. Game 3 is when things start to get a bit nervous. It looks like Randy would pitch that one, and Wright in game 4, leaving Wang to pitch game 5 if necessary. So Wang will get 2 games in Yankee Stadium, but it's going to be scarey if it gets that far. If we play the Twins, chances are, Wang pitches against Santana, and that's about as tough a matchup as we will see in the playoffs until the Mets. It's all about the luck of the draw at this point. Do we get lucky, and the Tigers blow it, and Minny wins the division? Then it sets up us vs. Detroit round 1, with Minny playing Oakland. Santana has to pitch twice against them, before we have to face him. I think we can beat Detroit before 5 games, so we preserve Wang's extra start for round 2. If Joe would just be sensible and let Proctor and Villone sit out the rest of the season, just throwing simulated games, then we get them in good health and we can afford to fall back on them with Randy and Wright in round 1. I wonder if Karstens can come out of the pen for the playoffs? He's been pretty good in his appearances. I'm most nervous about the bullpen in the playoffs. Dotel was a waste. Veras scares me. Myers is good, but only for one batter. Bruney could use a little rest, but he has been a nice surprise. I wonder what the story is with Lidle at this point. Farnsworth, if healthy, is a great setup guy for us. And of course Mo is practically automatic.
