What the Jets need is a legit PASS RUSHER. Next year, Tanny better make it his business to get someone who is FAST and can put constant pressure from the OLB position.

Yeah their having a bad game was never disputed. I just think that thinking RR not talking shit to the media had anything to do with it is retarded, and it is.

I don't believe that any roll-outs were successful today, but from my t.v, if that pass wasn't underthrown, he had a receiver or 2 that might have made a play on ball....made reception or at least break up interception !!!

Holmes is almost never open, he always has a safety over the top on him. There were a couple of plays today where Homes looked open deep and Sanchez threw it short but there was a safety right there coming into the frame afterwards.

You take 1 observation out of 6 and make a big deal.

I, and notice I said I, believe Rex is at his best talking trash.

I didn't shed any light on the other five points. I said the belief that RR's schtick with the media caused the Jets run D to play like shit was a stupid one, and it truly is.

    6 points!
And admitting you did not shed light on the other 5 points is good.
    Recovery is possible.

I didn't shed light on the other points because I don't disagree with them. I'm focusing on the one point of retardation. Do you actually think if Rex Ryan told the media that we'd beat the shit out of the Raiders and be eating hot dogs on the sideline they would have stopped Darren McFadden and controlled the line of scrimmage?

    Thoughtful post.

I don't know what the deal was today, and while I don't blame Schotty for this loss...

There were definitely a handful of plays today, at least, that Holmes was pretty wide open, and we didn't even attempt to target him.

Is this play calling, pass protection, or Sanchez not seeing him? Either way, yikes.

I also... And again, I don't know if this is play calling or what, but... How come we went to tight ends three times in the end zone? Why? All three of them had drops in the end zone, too. And with the exception of Keller, who is a legit threat and usually reliable target... Mulligan and Cumberland?! When we're trying to score TD's? With all the weapons in our arsenal... We're targeting those two?

I just do not get some of the moves we made on offense today, at all. I'm not blaming anything or anyone, but I... Where were the slants? Where...

Darren McFadden did the same thing to us today that Rashard Mendenhall did in the AFC championship game last year. He wore us out and then broke long ones and he did it in the first half before we should have been worn out.

I think the Jet's defense was poorly prepared to play today and I'm beginning to question whether they're built all wrong in the first place. Rex Ryan loves CB's and I understand that but a cornerback isn't going to win you anything if you can't stop the other team from running all over you.

If you're going to invest in CB's the way the Jets have you damn well better be jamming the box with 8 defenders a lot more often than the Jets are. The point of having great corners is so that you can over-commit on the line of scrimmage. The Jets have been laying back too much so far this year.

Yes, but only if you fry them and cover them in General Tso's sauce, then deliver them to my house after that. Otherwise you'll just get a stern talking to from Michael Vick.

Well that's an interesting take on things. I remember hearing the Jets knew they'd have to contain the edge to stop the Raider run game today, they just didn't do it. It was poor execution, I don't think they'll play like this regularly.

If the Jets over-commit to the LOS, the TE/slot guys burn us and fans complain some more.

You mentioned the AFCCG. They had a terrible first half, and then allowed I think one or two first downs the rest of the game. It's not gonna be perfect every time, and it seems some people think this team won't have bad games.

I've already mentioned it, and I'll reiterate it: the one consistent problem thus far has been the OL. It's been bad even in victory, and is the main issue here imo.

Well that's too bad. On the bright side, it could free up your Sunday night for Bingo or watching a romantic comedy with your cat. I think I'll watch the game though.

Think of it this way, the last time the Jet's defense was dominant for any period of time they were sending guys at the QB from every angle and consistently cutting down his options. That was 2009.

Yes, the Jets wound up ranked third last year but we all know that last year's defense was nowhere near as good as the one in 2009. This year's defense looks weaker than last year's so far.

What has happened from 2009 to 2010 to 2011? The blitz has become less and less of the defensive game plan.
