I think ramsey is a good backup plan....because i know Chad is not gonna be back to form....at least this year. The guy has won some games, that i saw and can take a pounding, he just wasnt Gibbs favorite.....If its for the 5th rd pick, i say sure why not?
It's worth it for a fifth round pick. He only has 1 year left on his deal. If he doesn't pan out, they can move on and draft a QB next year, since we'd likely be picking high again.
I dont understand why we would even want to bring Ramsey here. Hasn't he already proven himself to be a shitty quarterback????? I'd rather save that roster spot of Cutler, Croyle or Olson from the draft
I think they would make this trade specifically NOT to go QB in the 1st round. Even without a trade for Abe happening, the FO would then be able to go after OL/RB in the first two rounds of the draft. If we do get another 1st for Abe, D'Brick + Deangelo could be a distinct possibility.
LMAO ramsey a back up ? i will tell you right now chad will never be the same again he can't throw the ball more then 10 yards. If ramsey comes here he will be the starting qb in the 06 season
I totally agree, Pennington is done, Ramsey will start, I am still not sure it was a great idea to restructure him rather than cut ties.
Now, assuming this does go through, which it looks like it sure will, do we still draft a QB with the #4 spot. I say..........hmmmmmmmmmm..........no. By bringing in a 27 year old QB who was a former 1st round pick you have made a commitment. If it is not your intent to let him have a great chance of being your #1 QB, do not sign him, it would be a waste of money. With Ramsey in here, we should trade down the #4 and acquire more picks, especially because there is a very good chance one of the top draft QB's will be available at #4, and we could get a king's ransom from some 'desperate for a QB' team. With Ramsey here, and drafting a QB at #4, we overload the position even if we cut Bollinger. This would not be a good strategy move IMO. I sure hope this works out because we are going to pass up some damned good talent in this year's draft. I hope Ramsey does not turn into an O'Donnell. This may be the first semi-questionable move by our new FO. I will reserve final comment until the paperwork is signed.
We should be playing hardball with the Skins, they dont need Ramsey they already have two QBs. Offer no more then a 6th for this guy.
What's the attraction to Ramsey? Numbers are not any different than BB with no mobilty. One inch of height and 10 pounds? He's played more games but as a 1st Rd. pick you would expect it. Where's the upside? Has not made much impact with good coaching and strong front in Wash., why will he be better here with young coaching and a young line?
Patrick Ramsey really never got a shot in a quality offense.. there's always been questionable coaching situations in Washington, and he's never really gotten to take the time, play, and master a good system. I know one thing, the guy has a rifle of an arm, with some decent coaching, maybe something can be made of it.
I have been high on Ramsey for a few years, I have been worried Miami would get him so if we get him for a 5 I'd be very happy and very confident about our QB situation. I hope Chad is ok and Ramsey never plays but if Chad does go down again we would have an excellent backup.
