The fact that you can even make an arguement that this is a good signing is absurd.

It's not a good signing OR a bad signing. It's just a signing. Was there a press conference announcing that George will compete for the #1 job? Or the #2 job? Here's a quote from the San Fran Chronicle:

Big deal! He sat on the pine for the Bears and Seahawks in recent years and never threw a pass. Was it a bad signing for them too?

Dude this wasnt a good signing, grantes he wont play but this was just dumb signing him, they could have signed anyone or they could have gotten a halfway decent undrafted college qb.

It doesn't matter what veteran is signed by Oakland, it could be Boomer Essiason and you'd say it's a good signing.

What did Duane Starks give? He gets burnt constantly, isn't even half the player he was in Baltimore. Couldn't even get re-juvintaed by Belichick and he paid dividends?

On what? "Hey Fabian, watch film on me and do EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE."

In that case, then I agree with you.

You're scraping the barrel when you want to criticize a team for signing a 4th string QB in August, no matter who he is...

How recent? At least 5 or 6 years ago. That isn't "recent" for an NFL player. I could see if this guy was a team player and a good guy, but he's not. One of the reasons he never succeeded was because of his bad attitude and poor compatibility with his teammates.

On top of this all, he won't even make the team! He'll be on the roster for two weeks. How is this not a bad signing? Admit it. If the Jets signed him now, I'd admit straight out that it was a terrible move.

J George is a very good number 3 QB. Like Vince Evans you can win with him and hes has the arm to play in Raiders system. Guy still throws one of the best balls around. You can't have Pennington or bollinger arm and play in Raiders system. They have something called the practice squad to groom another young QB.(Kent Smith)

So silly worrying about someone number three QB. I would concern myself more with your ofense- or lackoff .

First OFf you signed Andre Dyson. If you think Duane Starks is bad, wait till you see this guy in action. HE STINKS. You thought TBuck was bad you haven't seen anything yet. AT least Starks was once a quality NFL CB.

Second Raiders have a very young CB corps(N Asomugha, F washington and Stanford Routt, Even Micheal Huff can play position if they want) They weren't necessarily counting on starks to be a major contributor. Just to be Mentor(dosen't have to be on the field) to young CBs. Even if he dosen't make the team he already paid dividends as alot of them were able to pick his brain. ( Say what you want but he has so many years as starting NFl CB) Thats alot of valuable knowledge he has.

And how long ago was Starks a quality CB...6 years ago!

Andre Dyson is solid bro...He forces turnovers and is young with speed. He does get burnt at times due to his over-agressiveness, which is fine by me occasionally...He's been very good in camp and has been good in pre-season games. Dyson worse than TBuck...Ok Joe, just like every one of your other predictions, fulla sheeeeeeeeeet.

WATCH OUT FOR THAT RAIDER DEFENSE. OH MAN ROB RYAN HAS GOT THIS GROUP TOGETHER.

2004: Started all 16 games for third consecutive season and totaled a career-high six interceptions from the left cornerback position, which ranked tied for third in the AFC and NFL.
2003: Started every game at left cornerback for Tennessee for the second consecutive season. Ranked second on squad (Rolle) with four interceptions and tied for first (Rolle) with 16 pass deflections.
2001: Played in 14 games for Titans, starting final 12 contests of season at left cornerback. Declared inactive for first two games because of broken left toe. Led squad with three interceptions to become first Titans rookie since Pete Jacquess in 1964 to lead team in category. Dyson also led team with 15 pass deflections and ranked second among members in secondary with 58 tackles.

Now would you like to tell me how he isnt a quality CB?

Interceptions alone don't tell how good a CB you are.
Listen when you have a high amount of interceptions it USUALLY means teams are challenging you alot.(not afraid to throw to your side)
SEE Ty Law. YES he had 10 interceptions last year but was giving up as many big plays. (you disagree)

I have seen Dyson play alot and everytime I see him its usually theback of his jersey as he chasing down the wrs, that caught another ball on him.

Let me ask you this question. From what you seen of Dyson this preseason has he impressed you. I can wait till the end of season because It will confirm what I've been saying. A Dyson stinks.
