It's essentially a 2 year deal from what i can gather, and if it works they still have him under contract for 2 more years on what will be a pretty cheap rate in 2021 and 2022. For a talented 26 yr old multi functional weapon, that's a pretty good move.
I don’t think anyone will blink an eye when they see him on IR or not playing to end the year for the 3rd straight year.
Don't listen to the haters, Q! I'm thinking #81 might be the first jersey I get when the new ones come out (which I'm very nervous about but that's another story)
I was thinking the same thing.....Enunwa has been called a TE in a WRs body. And we used him like a TE a lot. I don't know if that led to some of his ills, but using him as a WR (going against DBs instead of LBers) may prolong his career.
You’re throwing your money down the drain for an average WR with injury problems. You’re better off going with Adams.
What makes this signing even better is Macc's track record of getting us a WR through the draft And don't say 'Anderson'. Macc passed on Robbie 7 times.
Yeah Anderson will be tendered for 2019. It will be his last chance to prove he has matured, can keep it up for an entire season for a bigger contract.
One can only hope. I didn't think $9m was a premium price, when the top WRs these days make double that annually. Quincy is a guy that will greatly benefit from having Herndon, Anderson and somebody like Bell up front. He will become a go to guy on 3rd down, and won't need to be beat up as badly.
Anyone believing this wasn't smart to get done is in the wrong IMO. Considering the plethora of cap space and how weak the WR market is shaping up to be, this was the right move. I am curious if the Jets have an out, say after 2 years, due to his health issues. When Q is out there, he is a damn solid option. Plus, guess what? He WANTS to be here! That alone makes an extension of this nature a no-brainer.
Btw, for all you “fffffuuuckkkk we shoulda signed him to a one year deal!!” or “fffffuuuuuccckkk we shoulda signed him to a prove it deal!!” How do you know (i) he wasn’t offered that and (ii) as an unfettered free agent, why would he have accepted that. You’re all assuming these dudes are Jet fans. They’re not. They’re fans of themselves and their family. We cut short the courting process. And for all you suggesting, “well, if he didn’t take it, fuck him!” That’s not how this works.
No brainer. In the market, this is fair money, and he's played hard for the Jets. Adding the pieces they need is going to be hard enough without having to replae guys who are solid contributors already.
Wow sounds like we're actually building something here and not being impatient and making all the wrong moves. Who would have thought?
No issue signing your home grown players He’s quality Good move chains guy Good attitude I like it Just stay healthy. Go out of bounds or go down. We know you’re tough but the best ability is availability
