The Pats had a big hole today because Harrison was out and your safety play was atrocious. We also saw today that the Jets coaching staff is every bit as good as the Pats. You killed us on the line today, QB play and at running back. I happen to agree with you that health and the schedule played into our hands in a big way this year. If we don't shore up the middle of our D and bring in some OL men who can run block, we are going to take a big step back next year, the schedule is simply much tougher and we will likely not be as healthy. Fortunately we have 3 early picks and cap room to do some things. I suspect we are going to get much bigger on both lines before the start of next season and will add a legit back into the mix. You are probably right a small step back next year followed by a big year in 09. We added a substantial amount of talent this year and the players bought into the new system and we made the playoffs have 3 picks in the first two rounds and tons of cap room. This was a very big first step.
Nice post. I think the Jets will surprise us again next year, but that surprise might just be holding their gains from this season. 10-6 again, or even 9-7 would still be a very solid second year in the program. Bill Cowher took over a 7-9 team and went 11-5 before stepping back for one season to 9-7. He then won 44 games and 5 playoff games including a trip to the Super Bowl in his following 4 seasons. And I really believe that the Jet's plan right now is for Mangini to be around for a long time. That's the best possible argument for hiring a 35 year old guy: you want to have him for 15 years.
yeah but I wish that the day he leaves I cry because of the great memories we had with him with the Jets.
If he left tomorrow would you cry? I have my own personal rule on crying about Jet's related issues, which you might find if you look carefully at all the sigs on the site, but I might bend it a little if the penguin went away.
If he left tomorrow I would be awfully dissapointed, but in a way that I would be really shocked and mad with the news, dont know if cry might be involved but it wont be of any good memories cause we dont have enough of him yet, believe me it wont be like the Chrebet retirement, or the moment that I saw him in the ground numb with that concussion and everyone was talking about that the hit was going to take him out of football, and it did.
3. That number you came up with was drastically inflated by the Jax game as well as inferior competition, against the upper half defenses our running game was nonexistant. This area still needs to be upgraded as probably one of our highest priorities this offseason. 4. The defense can work, but unfortunately as the Pats shown, if they can figure out how to stop our blitz which they did, our defense is useless, and as for our run D it was bad this year, it still needs to be upgraded if we want to be contenders. 5. Your answer and your question contradicted each other, Abraham wouldn't have helped us at all as BT is much more suited to the 3-4 than Abe, and as Atl found out he is still as injury prone as ever. However I will say that I do agree that we need to improve our pass rush. I pretty much agree with everything else you posted
