I think at our draft spot, taking Gholston will be overpaying. What would be really cool is if we could sign Haynesworth who will be an UFA and draft Chris Long. I really think the Titans are going to franchise him though.
You're right as far as their defense goes. I'm sure Jason Taylor is out of there and so is Zach Thomas. Even if they don't retire I'm sure they'd rather play for a team that at least has a shot at the playoffs the next 2 or 3 years. Chad could be a good fit as long as they get a decent RB and their OL can protect him. Chad still has several good years ahead of him and if nothing else can act as a terrific mentor for whatever rookie QB they draft.
Quick question, Why do we want the #1 overall pick again? Until someone gives a really good reason besides Mcfadden there is no point. Mcfadden is likely to be their at 3 anyways, the Falcons don't need him they need a QB, and the Phins have Ronnie Brown. If Mcfadden is our guy, he will be there at 3anyways.
Best point in the thread, but I think someone else made it already. Although if they're worried about Ronnie Brown getting injured again they might take McFadden to sure up their RB stable.
I think they can get something for hm. And I also think he may start somewhere because, as you say, QB talent is at a low ebb. However, I think whoever uses him will find that he cannot get the ball into the end zone with any regularity any more. Just as the game has passed Joe Gibbs by, the game has caught up to Chad. The way teams play red zone defense now you have to have an arm. And his arm, while never great, is shot. Teams are playing him within 5 yards of the LOS at mid field.
Those draft value charts can only give a rough idea. There's no way of knowing how the picks stack up until a few years after the draft. I would much rather have the 3rd and 21st pick than the No.1. Likewise the 6th and 8th. I've always hated the value placed on the overall No.1 pick by this system - it is a huge gamble to take a player No.1. The only guarantee is that you'll have to pay a huge signing bonus.
By the way, I'm not knocking you, goldengod, I know you were just reporting how the deal would stack up as far as the value chart goes...
oh yes it does reek of madden. homer thinking at best. for the jets to move up to #1, it's going to cost a lot more than at best 5th rd value(noodle arm). i can see all the assnine future posts coming out how parcells is going to deal with the jets and give up the farm doing so, because we're the jets and we wish it to be so. this is just one of what is probably going to be a thousand super homer post's on the subject! the future looks bright, a ton of laugh's to come...
they would shore up the rb stable with a later round pick, not another top rd1 pick. parcells is not an idiot like some wish him to be!!!!!!!!
I'd rather have the 5 pick than the 1 pick. Same general chance the pick will work out and a hell of a lot less expensive. Also the 5 pick is tradeable and the 1 pick is much less so.
