Otherwise I would be a Faders fan. And you must be a real sensitive sally if you can not take a joke. I thought the black hole was tough...
?Unblockable.? ? Word used by Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin during training camp to describe defensive end Quentin Moses, the Raiders? 2007 third-round draft pick ?Quentin Moses is a superstar and we stole him in the third round.? ? Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, also during training camp http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2007/09/05/ramblings/week-in-quotes/5435/
Comeon you can't believe alot of things you hear from coaching staff regarding draft picks. Remember the heavy praise we been hearing on Justin Miller coverage skills- how much they are improved. Well I will believe it when we see it, because J Miller couldn't cover my 90 year old grandma consistantly. Has been the same story with miller , as it was in college. Great Kickreturner ,lousy coverage CB.
Apparently you're the tough guy around here, commenting on all the makeup wearers from your computer. I'm not a face paint guy myself, but I guess I do get a little sensitive when people paint an entire fanbase with a broad brush like you do. Fact is, the behavior at Raider games is no worse than Jet games, and not nearly as bad as Philly. But combine some silver and black costumes with it and people freak out. Now Los Angeles, that was truly a bad scene!
I have no idea what you're talking about. I think the reason Moses was released is because he was so good, the team realized he didn't belong in a Raiders uniform.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=gallo/070906&sportCat=nfl Optimistic Fan: "JaMarcus Russell didn't throw an interception all preseason!" Pessimistic Fan: "I'm in my mid-40s, I dress like a 10-year-old on Halloween and I root for one of the worst franchises in all of sports. I shouldn't just be pessimistic. I should be suicidal."
C'mon, 'joe. You are telling Yisman to shut up about the praise the Raiders organization heaped on draft picks. Look in the mirror. You do the same thing constantly. "L Kiffin said this", "A Davis said that about so and so", "T Cable said that".
For the record I've been going to at least one game a year out there since they returned in '95. I've seen fights in the stands, but I've seen that at Giant and Jet games too. I've seen drunks who are rude and profane, but I've seen that at Giant and Jet games too, not to mention Yankee games. Sorry, I've never felt like it's a dangerous situation the way some people talk about it. On the other hand, Los Angeles is where the "gang" element came in, and that was a place you really wouldn't want to take your family. In fact, you might not even want to go there yourself. As far as stereotypiing, a lot of my friends who are Giants season ticket holders feel the same way about the Jet fans that you do about the Raider fans (without the costumes). They view them as a bunch of drunken troublemakers who, for instance, might light the opposing team's jersey on fire and piss on it. Truth is stranger than fiction. Finally, you should lighten up about the "fakeness" of people in getups trying to act "hard". Most of them are just having fun. What effect do they have on you? Do you think the dogs in Cleveland actually think they're dogs too?
Way to consistently try to twist what I'm saying so you can attempt to compare Raider fans to Jet fans. Please note...I never said that my friends who are fans of the Raiders are afraid of the fans. I said they're embarrassed of the fans. Again, I reiterate...Raiderfans (By this I mean the ones AT the games, attempting to pass off as the same dangerous crowd from LA. Obviously, if I have friends who are fans of the Raiders I'm not attempting to paint them all with a broad brush stroke) attempt to cultivate an image of being badasses, and in the end they just look like jackasses. That was my point. I'm not sure how you can try to compare it to Jet fans. Did we create Jet Nation, a subculture of guys in Green and White pledging that their allegiance to a football team has put them on par with the Hell's Angels? No. Dress up. Have fun. Don't try to tell me you're the most feared fan base in sports and then only have the guts to put glass under my tires or scream in my face. I never said your fanbase is a joke for being violent or for dressing up. I said it's a joke for dressing up and claiming to be violent and instead act like the intimidated little idiots you described as existing within every fan base. And the fans in the Dawg Pound in Cleveland don't try to convince everyone that they're actually dogs.
Imagine how those people must feel today. Many of them have to get on some sort of public transportation while wearing their Skeletor costumes after a loss to the lowly Lions.
That's true. I should probably leave them alone. I can't even picture how uncomfortable it must be riding BART in those seats in spiked shoulder pads. Besides, I'm having a tough time criticizing anyone's fan base for any reason right now after our own fans cheered Chad's injury.
By the way, you do realize that the Raiders image wasn't created by these guys in costumes, right? That the team used to actually hang with the Angels, etc. That's where the image was born, these fans are just following it, not creating it. Just commenting on the bolded part, that's where you're losing me. I've met a lot of these kooks you see in costumes on TV. Most of them do this stuff with a sense of humor. They pose for pictures with kids in the parking lot and have a laugh about it. So I think you're projecting your own feelings about their image over what the reality is. On a different subject, anyone notice the absence of Fireman Ed yesterday? My buddy called me from the game and said he wasn't there. He said the word in the stands was that Ed asked the team for free tickets and they turned him down, so he walked. My friend said they were showing various people on the big screen trying to get "J-E-T-S..." going with varied results. I can't picture Ed turning his back on the team and I don't know if anyone else noticed it or not...
Well they suck less than last year, that's my rallying cry! But 0-2 is 0-2, right? By the way, is Fergie actually going to hit anyone in your avatar?
yeah, I think so. It's a serious blow to joe's declaration of playoffs. don't worry, you should still finish ahead of KC
Ummmm – yeah…I’m going to have to sort of disagree with you there – you see, I’ve never been to a Jets game and seen a large collection of homos dressed in bad Kiss markup, spikes and strapons. You guys look like Drag Queens on Steroids... What an insult to Drag Queens. You guys are the US version of English soccer hooliganism…and just like soccer in the US – no one cares what you do. Don’t you fudge packers wear two eye patches when you go to a game? The only difference between Raiders fans and a new puppy is eventually the puppy stops whining; where you, we need to hope eventually gets banned from this board. I heard the post office even had to recall their Raiders stamp because the stamp had a picture of your team and people couldn’t figure out which side to spit on. Maybe Al Davis can line you up a new corporate sponsor…TAMPAX – since you’re going through such a bad period.
