I totally agree with you. They never really lost a playoff game due to Sanchez though. He absolutely raised his game in the playoffs. From bad to solid lol
Completely different situations. Wentz was a horrible contract/cap hit for whoever bought him. He was Jared Goff.
His cap numbers are not that bad. He has a winning resume, The hard thing for Sam is almost every team Sam can be traded for has a more established qb already on the team.Lets say we have Teddy Bridgewater, and we traded a 1 for a 3yr qb that would not even be the opening day starter. you can do that for a 3rd but not a 1st. What makes these trades work is the original team eats the signing bonuses,so these contracts are not so bad overall. One reason not to trade Watson is 53 million in dead money
I recall a photo of the killer pass from Manning coming into the WR just an inch above the out-stretched fingers or our Safety. If our Safety were 1 inch taller, we win the game. I believe the pic was on the back page of the NY Post at the time, maybe the D.News? But Sanchez had the highest QBR of any Jets QB in playoff history. Not saying a whole lot, but Sanchez played his ass off, especially against Tommy.
Mims potential showed when he played for sure. But he looked like he had a fragile sticker on him. Perhaps he was playing hurt but you can tell when hed catch a ball he want to go down, and come up limping lol. There wasnt much chemistry obviously due to Mims missing time with injuries and covid protocols during off season/pre season. Most of those throws are directly related to the oline, as bad as the throws were. Sam's problem is he needs to throw the ball away, and he was doing that towards the end of the season. When you are a wr on the same side of the blitz, many times your route will be cut short, but it seems like Mims continues his normal routes even though he is open. But that is why he wasnt getting the ball, bcuz hes running a 1 on 1 route that takes just a split second too long to develop. Anyways I cant wait to see a healthy Mims, I think he will solid for us.
Jets were a team built on defense that gave up 30 points. No way they were winning that game w that defensive performance. Rex had great defenses that always seemed to fold in big spots
if the O cannot stay on the field you keep giving the opposing HOF QB the ball... 5 FDs 2nd half, 0 pts, 1 FD on last possession garbage time... Chez wenyt 6/17 and an INT
Offense was bad, D carried them all year. If they were going to win the game, the defense had to play up to their par all year which they didn’t.
It sucks that Mims got hurt because he appeared to always take a beating when I watched Baylor (not necessarily big hits but he'd leap to catch balls and hit the ground hard) a couple years ago and he always popped back up no harm no foul. Hamstrings and muscle pulls are just so damn hard to recover from in time to try to play football. Hopefully he strengthens those bad boys up with a full off-season program upcoming.
