There is a lot of talk about us liking Nassib I hope it's just us trying to psych out the Bills so they pick him at 8 which will leave a better player available to us. Preferably not a QB.

Some guys grow on you the more you watch them. E.J. Manuel doesn't have that quality. I look at him and I think the Jets better have a pretty good plan for how to maximize his talent if they take him because he wasn't maximizing it himself in college.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets took him but if he plays the way he did at FSU we're going to have a problem.

Whoever the Jets pick, it should be low risk, high reward, high value.

That means not a first or even second round quarterback, unless the Jets feel they know something the fans don't (deja vu all over again?).

At any rate, no matter who the Jets pick they shouldn't be starting next year. Whoever the QB of the future ends up being, they should only be thrown into the fire whenever the Jets have a good team surrounding them so that they are given proper opportunity to succeed.

I really think anything you hear today is just smokescreen. I've been hearing for the longest time that they're not taking a QB early. The two guards, Mingo, Eifert and Austin seem to be their targets.

I don't think Smith will drop to the Jets, but if he does how can they not pick him?

I think Smith drops to the bottom of round one until someone trades up to snag him.

Easily: by picking someone else. We have a lot of needs, we need solid dependable players at a number of positions. If Smith was a can't miss guy then obviously we would have to do it, but a lot of people are ranking him out of the first round or ranking another QB or two ahead of him. Honestly I think a guy picked in the third or fourth round is going to end up being the best of the bunch...although given the relatively crappy class of QBs here that isn't too much of an accomplishment.

I think the smokescreens are in full force now but that would also make me think they might be considering a qb early too.

Geno Smith is atop a lot of teams QB rankings. He's not anywhere near the top of their overall rankings though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team take him in the top half of the 1st round. QB's are valuable. Even QB's that the league isn't sure about.

If Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder can go just outside the top 10 and Jake Locker and Ryan Tannehill on the 8 pick Geno Smith certainly can too.

The Bills have been set on picking a QB at 8 for quite some time. Nothing behind them matters in their plans.

That's not entirely true. If they felt a QB they like would drop to the end of round one, they could wait till then and trade up. If they're worried about the Jets picking someone at 9 or 13 they're not going to want to wait and be forced to pick one at 8.

I posted back in January that Nassib was going to be a 1st round pick. I gauranteed it. Nobody agreed with me. He is the best QB in this draft, Jon Gruden thinks so, thats good enough for me.

SO I will say this: and remember you heard it here first. I never would have imagined the Jets drafting Nassib, but I'm deciphering all the events and "smoke" of today, and it has become evident in my mind that the NYJ will in fact select Ryan Nassib. They will trade UP to 6 or 7 and poach him from Buff. Idzik is not a good poker player, I see right through it ....

Certainly laying it on thick. They are probably going to take a chance on a QB, I think it's a foregone conclusion. If it's actually possible to move back and collect another pick, I think it's feasible they pull the trigger on someone in the 1st round. Otherwise, they will pick someone deeper in the draft, and just fill holes with solid picks. I just can't picture Idzik as a big risk taker.

Definitely a smokescreen. Not sure how Mehta would get this info or who would tell him this close, unless they wanted him to report this.

    Timeline of info leaked/given today:

Early AM, Sal Palaontonio leaks that the Jets are very much interested in Nassib, and Marty Morhinwig is enamored with him, thinking he is the man for the WC offense. Sal Pal reports BUffalo is scared ...

Afterwards comes a major cluster of smoke ... but bare with me.

Then, Idzik interviews with Sal Pal, and tells him that infact the Jets are considering trading down, and he expects things to heat up after tomorrow night.

Then, not too long after that, A BUFFALO BEAT WRITER breaks the news that buffalo actually covets Matt Barkley, not Nassib (yeah right!) A bunch of of reporters are then given this info, including Peter King, who tweets it out that it is a "reliable source" that says Buff wants Matt Barkley, not Nassib.

Then ... almost minutes later, Manish Mehta, A JETS BEAT WRITER breaks the news that Geno Smith is the #1 QB on the Jets draft board!!! On the night before the draft, Idzik is going to leak this "accurate info" out to manish mehta.

ANy Poker players out here?? Come on, you must see what's going on. Its very obvious to me!

    1. Buffalo will draft Nassib #8, if they can, period. Barkley talk is smoke!!! At its worst.
    2. NYJ are HOT for Nassib. Read btwn the lines ppl!! Its so obvious. NYJ are trying to lure BUff to sleep.
    3. Idzik must KNOW Buff is drafting Nassib #8. Idzik is plotting and he will jump to #6 or #7 to make it hap. Will cost a 3rd round pick, which they could recover (Idzik knows this) when they trade DOWN from 13.

So, I MAY BE WRONG, but if that is the case then so be it, but this is how I break it down. YOu have to go on the assumption that anything "leaked" today was done so with a purpose. Does anyone really think that Manish Mehta would be told that Geno is #1 on the Jets draft board?

I believe Ryan Nassib in his interview this morning on Schein. And I believe Sal Pal got accurate information regarding Morhinwig ... Sal Pal has Philly connections. I believe everything you heard after that from Buff and NYJ was damage control. There you have it folks. Nassib to Jets.

I forgot to mention in the timeline above ... before Sal Pal broke that Jets want Nassib .... Ryan Nassib himself said on a radio interview this morning that BUff, NYJ, and Jax have shown strongest interest!! that was the first event of today.

Idzik will take risks when the payoff is huge. I don't think he'll take risks for any other reason. And risk/reward analysis is pretty easy to do. You take a risk that will payoff in multiples of reward if you are right. 1 for 1 is a sucker bet.

Maybe. This being his first draft, I just can't see it. My gut tells me that this draft will be about filling needs, and might not be too exciting on the surface. I'd be fine with that. I just hope they don't trade up.

Brian Billick made a good point on the michael kay show today. he said that QBS are always at their highest in terms of draft stock the year before they are drafted. He said that even though everyone said Matt Barkley would have been 1st pick last year, he wouldn't have. He never went through the process of being picked apart. I think we will see that with geno Smith, he will fall down a bit after being a clear #1 favorite for months.

I say this to keep in mind when mentioning Johnny Manziel and teddy Bridgewater. I really don't think they will be as highly regarded next year as some Jets fans think they will be. I seriously doubt it. Manziel, for sure, is not a great pro prospect. Seriously. I say that to be very clear on this ....

In no way is it a foregone conclusion that Idzik is going to "tank" this year to get his hands on Manziel or bridgewater. That thought is almost too comical for words. Whether its Nassib, Smith, or Manuel in the 2nd round, I think the Jets are taking their future QB this year! Bc its not Mark Sanchez!! Idzik knows that, and he ain't gonna wait a whole year. Nobody in this business has that luxury. Jets need a QB.

So, many of you will sit back in shock when the Jets use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB this year ... I will not. Its comin. Today's terrible round of poker btwn Idzik and Buffalo has PROVED that to me. I say its Nassib, and the Jets will trade up. but I would also be happy with EJ Manuel in 2nd round.
