We don't have a back that can run it down anyone throat and the Ravens while conservative had a big back and a QB who could and did throw the ball down the field and had a very good WR to throw it to. I'm not convinced Clemens can't be a big time QB he has some good tools. I do think we need a big time back and a true No. 1 WR.
Ur right I'm a Sanchez fan too. Too many people give him crap and treat Matt Stafford as the 2nd coming. And Freeman is nothing more than a Clemens clone
I think you give they both too much credit. Kellen may suck, but Freeman would take suck as a compliment.
This is a fine theory, but at the end of the day you need the QB to win you the game. Example, the 2 time Pittsburgh Steelers SB champs in this decade. The Steelers are an exact replica of the team you described - knock out defense, ball control running attack. Roethlesberger throws the ball maybe on average 25 times max a game. HOWEVER, when the SB was on the line and we are talking about championship rings the QB MUST be able to step up and lead his team with his arm and brain to get the win. That is exactly what happened in the last 2 minutes of the SB this year. It is exactly what Favre did in overtime against the Pats on our famous win this year. So, the theory of a strong shut down def, a good rb ball control offense with Jones and Washington all sounds great, BUT it just isnt enough to win the SB. This is a fact. If its Ratliff or Clemens they must be able to do what Roethlesberger, Brady, Manning(s), Elway, Favre and all the great QB's can do, and that is lead their team to victory with everything on the line. At this point you cannot be even remotely confident that either Clemens or Ratliff can do this. I'm not saying that they are not capable, but with what we have seen on film so far there is nothing to prove that we can win the big game with either of these guys and my point is that a stifling Def and ball control power running will get you in the playoffs but you wont win the SB. The only exception I can thing of was the Baltimore Def of 2000, and that was a once in every 25 years type of def. This years team will be a far cry from that.
our offense will be good enough only with a real 1 WR. our defense will be real good not great. in the second year it will be great.
