I liked McCarron in college and wanted us to use a mid round pick on him. I'm not sure he's going to be a great NFL quarterback as he reminds me of a mid-level Matt Schaub (in his good years with the Texans) type of player. I wonder if Cincinnati really wants to trade him though. I have a weird feeling that they're getting ready to move on from Andy Dalton at some point if they can't win a playoff game with him. Maybe they look to McCarron eventually? Idunno. Could be a crazy idea.
What I bolded is why I don't want the Jets to bother. Unless Cincy cuts him and they can sign him cheap as a FA, he would cost them too much for the value he offers, and worse, he would block the development of other possible FQBs - Petty/Hack/Rookie. If they could get him cheap to use as insurance for the other guys, ok, but it doesn't sound like he'll come cheap.
