    LMAO.

The best QB not on that list, starts for Philly tomorrow night,

But for now, Vick is the guy for 2 or 3 years, and Smith can be groomed in the traditional sense, like Rodgers was.

the trouble with all those mentioned is that is that none of those teams are in a position to move on from their current starters in favor of a rookie… yet.

you depart with a tenured starting Qb when you have another answer in the wings. the chargers had rivers, so Brees was expendable, the niners have Kaepernick so A.Smith was expendable, etc.

there has to be another option in order to move forward, none of the teams you mention have that, and really I'd be goddamned shocked if the chargers or falcons even CONSIDERED parting ways with their starters.

He's protecting himself better, but i'm not sure a guy can change his style at 35. To me though, he just isn't the answer.

If the Jets can't get MM (I don't like Winston - think he is like EJ Manuel where he will suck in the pros), to me the obvious guy is Bradford. I know people will say no because of his 2 knee surgeries, but to me this is not a case of the guy being the next Penny. Knees heal, and for a qb, those are really fluke injuries. His arm is fine, and if he is over the knee issues, you are getting what could be a franchise qb for 10 years.

So to me, the list over the next 2 years is:

    1. Mariota
    2. Bradford
    3. Connor Cook

Beyond that, you are in trouble if you have to rely on anyone else.

One other point, 2016 is a bad QB draft. Hackenberg is really having a mediocre season (if you can't do it in the Big 10, you won't be able to do it in the NFL), and not a big Dak fan. So, if you don't get a QB this year (I think Cook is coming out too), 2016 is not the year to draft one (2016 looks to be the year of the WR with 4/5 really good ones probably in the draft).

You are talking at least a first rounder for Ryan and Newton. At least. And you are talking probably just below that for Cutty. Dalton is trash. However, truth be told, I give a top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder for Ryan and Newton because those guys are what you hope MM can become - top 10 qb's.

We would have had a much better Geno Smith long term had he sat behind Michael Vick, something I was screaming for in training camp.

Is it too late for this scenario to play out? Probably.

Look for Idzik to draft a new QB in rounds 1-3 and have him and Geno battle it out for #2, behind Vick to start the season.

Name the last young QB whose team gave up on him before the end of his second season who turned out to be good in the NFL. Glennon isn't a good QB. He just looks good compared to what the Jets have fielded recently.

This is just one thread on the topic that I found hilarious: http://www.bucschat.com/topic/37700-lurch-and-the-clipboard/

Sounds just like a Jets forum talking about our QB's except that "Lurch" actually posts decent overall numbers while his offense is failing repeatedly.

Agree, I was about to post the same thing.

At this point I think Hundley could be an excellent possibility. The few times I have watched him play or read about him have been very positive and he appears to fly under the radar a bunch.
He seems to have the arm, the presence of mind to find the open receiver under pressure, appears to play with confidence with good leadership qualities and the size to be durable at the NFL level.
Love to hear from some of the college draft experts here at TTG. I would enjoy reading about their opinion on this kid, particularly their thoughts on his football IQ and leadership quality. I for one am impressed with Brett

I was doing research on him as the likely third QB in this draft and the phrase "has trouble making reads" kept popping up over and over again. That phrase sent chills down my spine since both Sanchez and Geno had the problem as well.

I can't argue with that. They're as ridiculous as we are.

I do like Cook quite a bit, but last I heard he was leaning towards staying with MSU. 2016 does look weak if Cook leaves this year, but things can change. Grayson is another guy I wouldn't mind.

Bradford has the most upside, but if he can't stay on the field it's really hard to put your eggs in that basket. Heh, with that said, I want to keep Vick around and he's got similar issues. The rest of the season will dictate whether we're in contention for a top 5 pick or not so it's hard to say. I enjoy watching MM play, but I really do eventually just want a dropback guy that can sling it.

I'd be fine with signing Vick for a few years at a reasonable price. Likely to be better than other realistic journeyman vets or trading too many picks to get a flawed second echelon QB like Dalton or Cutler. Would then draft Mariota if he falls to us (I'm in the "NO WINSTON!!" camp too) or if he doesn't draft BPA in Round 1 and get a QB in high round 2 or 3 to develop and compete with Geno to be #2 next year.

Bradford has had two ACL tears in his left knee now. That is an injury that causes the player to become more vulnerable to future injuries in both knees.

It's not fair but with the Jets luck there's like no way he'd stand up for us over time. Kris Jenkins had the same problem. Once a knee goes you're vulnerable but when it happens again you're basically going to get retired by the injuries sooner rather than later.

    Is that your bootcamp platoon?

In the circles I keep. I never heard it stand for that.

    I'm with ya.

Idzik does love those high upside injury prone guys though. I'd rather just stick with Vick and draft a guy to sit.

    It is when it's a below-average QB.

Perhaps, but I love how you ignored my question lol. So starting a deer in headlights rookie for 2 seasons and being the laughing stock of the league is better?

I'd prefer we start looking for the future of our QB position now than tanking for two seasons with a mediocre QB.

Re-sign Vick. Draft the best available QB in round 1.
