Sure, he's made that throw hundreds of times, if not more, back in college. That was before changing his mechanics when he came into the NFL and working on them again this past off season. It's like a golf swing. Say uou use a 9 iron and a certain amount of power to hit the ball 120 yards. After working on your swing, a 9 iron with the same amount of force would travel 130 yards, so you either have to take a bit off your swing or use the same force with a pitching wedge instead if you are 120 yards away. QBs, obviously, don't use clubs, so they have to relearn how much "arm" to put behind different throws. Could use a baseball analogy as well. Say that a batter has a long, slow swing. They learn their timing based on their swing. If they shorten or speed up their swing and keep the same timing, they'll be ahead of each pitch. So, they have to learn new timings that match their faster swing.
When Tebow stayed with UF to play his senior year, didn't they get him a special QB coach to teach him to play more like an NFL QB? Cuz I always felt like his passing was pretty accurate before then, and that it was harder for him once he started having to think about every millimeter his arm moved. Sometimes I wonder if he'd have been better off left to naturally improve his release speed when adjusting to the pros. But I guess whether you're a lefty or a righty all QBs have to learn better mechanics. Clue me in plz
the coach was Scott Loeffler. Apparently, Urban's instructions were simple: "Don't mess him up" http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/sec/2009-03-23-tebow-coach_N.htm
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that! Sure with enough reps your muscle memory supposedly kicks in and it becomes second nature. But when? I kinda wish they'd left it alone.
here is one qb trait that tebow has, while sanchez doesnt offer it..... he is one tough s.o.b. and doesnt care to butt heads with anyone. sanchez on the other hand is an obvious vagina, hates contact, and for the most part pisses his pants when the heat gets on him. i dont like tebow as a pocket passer, but as a wildcater, he is the man. atleast he has one thing going for him, cause mark still has a long way to go in the pocket passer dept.
That attribute of Tebow translates into a valuable one for pocket QB's -- the ability to remain composed and get a throw off with the pressure coming. Now if we can just get Tebow to pick a receiver and throw it towards him. I swear he rarely takes a hit after a throw because if there's someone coming, he'd rather run around like Benny Hill and then look again to see if another receiver is open. I think a lot of mobile quarterbacks do that early in their careers, but Tebow is the most pronounced example.
i think our offense will be more conventional than wildcat, but the mix of the two on the field at the same time would kill defenses, if the offense could execute both types of offense that is.
i cant wait to see tebow run the ball against heavy db packages, he might injure a teams entire secondary given enough rushing attempts, just saying.
$10 says ESPN doesn't create a graphic comparing Sanchez and Tebow in Week 1 and instead they'll just talk about Tebow and show highlights instead.
Ill take the bet. ESPN loves ripping Tebow any chance they get, I am not quite sure what shows you watch (outside of Skip bay less and heath evans , the other 99 guys rip him constantly). You are mistaking over coverage with positive coverage, yes tebow is on all the time (and for no reason ) but 95% is negative. "he can't throw" "he will blow up the jets locker room" "Its a disaster waiting to happen" yadda, yadda, yadda,
Pundits/commentators don't count. Graphics/highlights apply to SportsCenter, ESPNNews, and anything else similar where sports games are reviewed, not analyzed ("graphics" aren't analysis they're just SportsCenter eye-candy).
