You can take it with a grain of salt, just seen Tmz sports video from yesterday guy was talking to Cutlers wife. Don't know why? But anyways guy asking her questions was like you know it's rumored that your husband could land in NY And it's almost like she knew that's where he was going. She was being really coy about it like she knew but couldn't say. That's how I took it anyways. And she proceeds on how her and Decker live right down the street from one another in Tennessee. Anyways don't mean shit but it would be the Jetsy thing to do

Sorry ...but Walter Camp Football has Darnold and Rosen at 1 and 2 for 2018. Where are those two "not as good as everyone thought?"

Consensus is that 2017 QB class not good

So why take a chance ??/ get the OL fixed and get a TE or RB

Watson is not a top 5 QB imo

Mahomes a maybe...and we have plenty of those on board

Projective drafts have the Jets at first round #20 pick for 2018 which I think is assuming a much better 2017 season lol

We need to deep six 2017 and get a blue chip QB like Indy took Luck and Tampa Winston

Winston was not a blue chip QB in 2015. In fact, people were saying the Jets shouldn't take him if he fell to 6 and instead wait for the elite 2016 prospects, Cook and Hack.

I hear ya, but between Hack and Petty we already have 3 yrs invested. Of course our team could 'be better', give them a 'better chance' but sooner or latter it just time to put them out there with whatever team we have. Now is that time! I wanna see Hack crash and burn and lead us to a top QB pick in '18 or shock the world and take us to the playoffs.

Oh p[ease...Winston was highly touted along with Mariota in 2015 draft

Since when was Hack ever an " elite prospect"...... lmao

Winston went to Pro Bowl his Rookie Year

In 2016 he was ranked ahead of Rivers Wilson and Carr

The notion that a team can "deep six" a season to get the top draft choice is silly. Guys in the locker room are not going to go through, OTAs, training camps, preseason, regular season with the notion of losing games. It may end up that way, but it's not something a team can plan. If the Jets have their eye on a top QB for 2018, then the strategy should be for them to move up to the top pick.

With the scrubs on the CS and say 50 percent of the Team whats your guess?

If we go 8-8 its a miracle ...9-7 or worse is pretty much a lock hehehe

I've said before, and I'll say again, IMO the Jets could be a playoff contender again, if they're able to get a decent FA QB. I still think there is the nucleus of a good defense and all that is missing is consistency on offense.

First of all, you're using NFL stats to defend Winston, which makes no sense. My point is people didn't want him before he played in the NFL, not after. Read this thread, a lot of people didn't consider him a great prospect. http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/jets-option-at-qb-in-2015.82878/

Hack was an elite prospect a year before he was drafted. Mock drafts like this one had him going first overall. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2015/i...-tops-way-too-early-2016-mock-draft-nfl-draft

And in a previous edition WCF had Rosen #1, so things can - and do - change. Look at our own Hack for proof of that. "Betting the house" - which is essentially what you're doing - on two things happening in the future:
    1. The Jets "win" a high draft pick
    2. Their desired QB is still there when they pick

is very risky. More risky than betting that Watson or Mahomes are the real deal IMO.

As for the 2017 Class being "Not Good". First that's relative. Second, and more importantly, if you find your FQB, then it's a Great class.

In the opinion of many evaluators he's the top QB prospect in this year's draft. The intangibles he's shown support this assessment IMO.

Mahomes is a-typical in his mechanics, and he's played in a non-Pro style offense, BUT his intangibles are high, and more importantly, despite his unorthodox mechanics, he not only makes all the required throws, he makes throws no one else could make. I see a lot of Elway in him.

If the Jets do draft at #20 next year - and I agree with this based upon their weaker 2017 schedule, and the assumption that they will have improved at least a little - then it makes all the more sense for them to draft their FQB this year, because they won't be in contention for drafting a blue chip QB next year unless they trade a lot of good draft picks which they can't afford to do.

As I see it at this point, if they want Watson, they'll have to take him at #6 if he's even still there. If they want Mahomes, it gets trickier. If it were me, I'd take him at #6 and not look back, but I don't think they Jets would do that. I think they'll roll the dice and either hope he's there with their 2nd pick, or possibly trade down from #6, let's say with Cleveland for their #12 and their first 2nd Round pick and take Mahomes at #12.

    BTW:

Here's an interesting article (lengthy) analyzing what Cleveland could, and should, do. I think much of what is said applies to the Jets too.

I think that was his whole point that Hackenburg wasn't a great prospect in the end but was once considered so, you asked for proof he gave you a link to somebody making Hackenburg number pick.

Big arm, pro-style offense, very good numbers as a true freshman, carried a weak team in a strong conference, etc. With the benefit of hindsight, we can scoff at that now, but Hack is a perfect example of why you shouldn't project QBs in year in advance.

I also don't think you can project how well a pro QB will perform in their first year. Especially one slated for a red shirt year who hasn't thrown a pass in public since pre-season.

All we have are some anonymous reports from fired coaches and media guys like Cimini.

as well it should be. striving for "could be a playoff team" status is what we have been doing forever.

It DOESN'T matter IF Bowles is the coach. The team looked totally unmotivated, undisciplined and unprepared last year. The guy is in way over his head and the jets are paying the price Has no clue when to punt v. go for it, make players responsible, or SIT an overpaid vet who sucks on the field (see Revis and Fitzpatrick). Now with the foolish decision to try to keep Clady, watch mindless moron bowles troop clady out there for $10M a year and get the QB put in the hospital. This team never gets younger and never gets smarter.

Cutler's going to be 34 next season. Seriously, he's in decline at this point with 4 straight seasons with a losing record and he's in the cut him a year early instead of a year late category. He's never been a great QB so there are no past glories to recapture. The Jets talent just sucks balls on the offensive side of the ball at this point with no LT, RT, TE or workhorse RB. He's got an ongoing feud with the only star caliber player that might be on the offense next year in Brandon Marshall.

Getting him a couple of years ago, if the Bears let him go very cheaply, was a possibility. The 2017 Jets are not in the same place the 2015 Jets were. Revis is gone and Harris maybe as well. D'Brick is gone and Mangold maybe as well. This is a team badly in need of a total rebuild at this point and you don't hire 34 year old QB's on the backside of their career to facilitate a rebuild. Particularly ones for whom a dark cloud always seems to be hovering overhead and whom the fans have given up on at times.

I think you're totally wrong. Do you really think after having worked with Cutler 3 times before that Morton would want to sign up for a 4th time? I don't. If he does, then we have ZERO hope for Morton and the offense, for Mac or for the team.
