It's not a 4 win season unless the Jets get unlucky with injuries and players suddenly going over the hill, as happened in 2005. The fact is that the Jets are a fundamentally unsound football team right now, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Okay buddy. What exactly would you do then wiseass? You want to go rental for another year? There's nobody even good available and only two decent prospects in the draft... we might as well see what we have.... How much worse do you think KC or Rat will play than shitty ass Favre did last year? Favre didn't have a single game with over 300 yds; and 22 picks. We finished 9-7.
Things could be a helluva lot worse than last season, with a QB that doesn't know how to handle the NFL. You'll be cursing your TV screen, if you see a reenactment of the end of last season become reality for the beginning of this season!
Although circumstances may lead to Cutler being traded, no team wants to trade a good young QB. You usually have to find one in the draft.
kc and rat are to raw to compete with the big boys buffalo has jp losman-----cleve has anderson among others tanny stripped us of a passing game by cutting coles-----i hope he has a plan jets will be right back at the bottom of the league again in 2005 and 2007 jets were horrible and won only 4 games----I WANT US TO BE COMPETITIVE
That's fine. I expect growing pains, and there won't be a media circus or torn locker room. Also, whoever is QB will be alot more mobile, and I'm expecting the D to keep us in alot of games this year. I'm not expecting playoffs, but I'm expecting a competitive team.
The way I see it... 1) By firing Sutton and bringing in Rex, Pettine, Scott, Sheppard, and Leonhard our defense has taken 5 steps forward and our offense has only taken 1 step back in my opinion, so overall we are a much better team now than we were last year. 2) FA isn't over and the draft hasn't occured yet, our offense will have more pieces in place by week 1. 3) Our offense isn't gonna be as bad as some of you doomsayers are spouting because.. a) we have an awesome O line with 2 pro-bowlers on it that will be even better this upcoming year after playing together for a year. b) we have two pro-bowl RB's c) We will have enough viable receiving targets in Keller, Leon, Cotch and unnamed draftee to keep the other team from stacking the box on us to shut the run game down, especially since out O line is good enough to buy our QB some time in the pocket to work with.
I agree with Jake. The truth is Stafford's not dropping to us and Sanchez really isn't that good. With both Bradford and McCoy coming out next year why not wait. If we suck as bad as everyone says we can draft one of them.. id rather have them then Sanchez. Draft a WR this year and put one of our current QBs in a position to possibly succeed or continue to build a sick defense.
if you develop a QB this season you aren't writing off this season. last year was a bigger waste than this year could be because we not only didn't win, we didn't improve our long-term QB situation or even evaluate the long-term possibilities with the QB's on our roster. it is completely asinine to draw the conclusion that the team is writing off this season because they want to see what they have.
Why not give Clemens or Ratliff 'a team around him' by spending that 1st rounder on defense, the OL or even a receiver? If Sanchez is just gonna sit all year, in your scenario, why not wait to draft one of the QBs in next years draft class? Aren't they rated higher than this years class anyway?
this will be my last remark i expect the jets to make a blockbuster trade for a qb woody has to sell psls and get the fans excited about buying seats in the new stadium the psl invoices will come out in the summer so a top qb will draw some fans to buy his seats
i see it as potential. its the skill set sanchez has that makes him an 8 year guy... i really don't have that same gut feeling about the QBs on this roster. and I used to be a Ratliff drone, but then I realized that potential needs to see 1st stringers before I get excited about his ability again. I'm just a big proponent of drafting the blue chip talent in the draft at QB and grooming him for the franchise position.
You expect wrong and will be very disappointed. Don't come on this board all angry because you were wrong about something that was already obvious to everyone but you.
We did that with Pennington. 49ers did that with Alex Smith, Titans with Vince Young, Cards w/ Leinart, etc.... How are all those working out? Sanchez has as much bust potential as Clemens or Ratliff. He has measurables, but hasn't really done anything at any level either.
