I think the coaching staff gave fair amount of reps to Hackenberg to prove he can beat McCown, he failed to do that. We already knew that Petty's max level is a backup QB in the NFL. It seems Hackenberg couldn't show any progress during this 2 years with the team. Of course, it results a lof of questions. + don't forget that the final decision about who plays is up to Bowles, he has the final world. McCown playing much better than we expected, but so far Maccagnan throw 1 2n and 4th round pick out of the window.
