It just sucks we can't get all our starters out there on defense for once. Sheldon, Mo, Pryor wasn't there either.
Defense, the supposed heart of this team, looks bad right now. So far, we've seen two second tier QB's have their way with Jets. Falcons scored two early TD's on Jets first team D. Jets first team O scored 1 TD on Falcons 2nd team D. Jets second teamers (O & D) clearly superior to Falcons second teamers and that's what won this game. If this pattern repeats in the regular season it will be a long one. Jets O still not able to move ball consistently enough to overcome a significant deficit. The bad: Entire first team D including Revis. The good: B. Marshall, L. Williams (playing with second team D), M. Williams, R. Miles, L. Mauldin, J. Mays (might be a better MLB than Davis), D. Posey, OL Line (QB's had time to throw). Send packing: S. Evans, Q. Enunwa, E. Henderson, K. Davis, Darrin Walls.
Leonard Williams is the stand-out from last night. Fellas, I think we might have found a guy who will be one of the top 10 players in football for the next 10 years. The dude is an absolute beast. Fitz, Powell, Ivory, Mays and Petty also stood out. Love Brandon Marshall - guy is going to catch 100 balls this year. Easily the best WR we have had since Keyshawn was here. As for the defense, I think it's partly that not all of the guys are playing. The other thing is that this isn't Bowles' defense (notice barely any blitzing). I think there is way too much talent on this defense, and when all is said and done this will be a top 5 defense, at worst. However, I am so impressed with Williams.
I can't wait to see Williams in the season!!!! Especially with Wilk and Sheldon back. Damn, this is gonna be fun!! And I agree, I am not holding the defense to much of anything right now. Bland play calling, miscommunications, and missing starters. I think things change dramatically come season

I hate to break the news to you, but Favre sucked when he was the Jets QB in 2008. He had 2-3 good games, 2-3 ok games and 8 absolute stinkers.
Sorry, but I just don't see what the rest of you are seeing. The Falcons starters scored upon us at will until they pulled their starters. So all that means is that our second and third string players were better than theirs. As for Bryce, I'll withhold any praise for him until I see him against some other teams' starting defense.
The Falcons are one player away from being a playoff contender and arguably the worst team in football, easily the worst team in football in my view. And that's Matt Ryan. Their starters are garbage, they don't have any decent starters. You have Julio Jones and Matt Ryan, that's their franchise. Without Ryan I don't see them winning a single game unless they really play a horrible team that is having a terrible day. So their starters didn't do anything to us, Matt Ryan is the difference. I doubt we would have given up more than 10-20 yards total in that first half it it wasn't for Matt Ryan. Plus, we were missing Mo, Sheldon & Pryor out there. Let's not overreact on a fluke play and act like they dominated us the entire half because Ryan made a perfect throw to his fullback. Outside of that they didn't do anything. The other play was on us (TD pass, miscommunication). Anybody who isn't considered a top 5-10 QB would have thrown a pick 6 there to Coples and then we'd be standing here going "man this defense will be the best in NFL history, they couldn't even get a single yard on us and that was without our best players and Pryor also missing". But they connect that one ball and suddenly we're getting crushed by the Falcons? Please.
Besides Williams, our defense starters weren't good...Petty was playing behind a garbage o-line against the Falcons 2nd teamers, Its the old double standard if he plays well, he played against scrubs. I thought he was like a different QB from last week, and I'm excited about his upside, he has a howitzer
Man, please....JUST STOP IT with the homer stuff. I'm not overreacting. I'm very conscious. If the Falcons are the worst team in football, as you believe, then what the heck does that make us? And please don't give the me the "we had starters missing" jibe because they had three starters missing from their defensive squad! Yes, Matt Ryan is what makes that team go, but so what? We didn't stop him. Also, Julio Jones didn't even score. That just proves my point. Who do we have behind Jeno? Because it sure isn't this kid everyone is hanging their hats on. Face it, we are in for a long season.
I can't wait until we actually game plan for a team ....everythings typical vanilla preseason stuff.Which is why I'm not even remotley concerned with the starting defense giving up big drives two weeks in a row.There's no game plan or exotic blitz packages right now .....we will find out the truth about the defense week 1
I do get what you are saying and agree with you but one thing I would like to add is that yes he was playing against 2nd/3rd stringers but he was also playing WITH second or third stringers... its a lot more even then you would think. the important thing is the quality of his passes and reads which I was impressed by he was able to run the offense pretty well for a rookie (mind you a 24 year old rookie) ... Tebow had a great season because hes a great player he just has glaring weaknesses that DC's can play to, which they wont do in a preseason game.
