An over the hill jailbird who can't catch the ball! Our over-hyped, overpaid CB And an under achieving RB. I see what you mean. Our Running game is improved, and we lose a uninterested WR, and a CB playing like he just got paid. Chicago gets a WR for Cutler who is going to be a first look WR, and a CB to help a terrible secondary Win Win lol
What we are giving up: 1: A CB who is actually not overrated and is actually extremely fast, and is one of the few reasons other teams have not been scoring through the air. If Kyle Wilson improves as much next year as this year, maybe then. 2: A WR who is our number 2 guy, who yea we could give up since we have that other good WR to take his place, what's his name? .... oh... wait...
DOH, I forgot he was fast. That means everything. You look at all the big pass plays against us, and you will see Cro there. Well other than the one from Smith last week. So your argument is 180 degrees from accurate. What exactly has Burress done, and why is everyone complaining we got rid of Edwards?
Obviously speed is not the only reason Cromartie is good, but sometimes I feel like a lot of Jets fans bash on Cro just because of the comparison to Revis all of the time, and honestly the real reason we payed him so much is probably because we kind of left ourselves with no choice after Nnamdi got snatched up. I have a strong feeling we would all be missing him on that side if we traded him, and Plax has a few TD's and I'm not saying he's great by any means, I definitely wouldn't want to resign him based on the season so far but we really have no one to replace him especially after we traded Mason. And as far as Cro giving up deep plays, he isn't a shutdown corner, so you can't expect no plays to be made on him. But how many more would we see against Wilson, who right now does look great but he's playing against slot receivers, who generally speaking are number 3 guys. I don't think he would transition well in the middle of the season.
IMO, Greene will be a quality RB for several years. He is not the problem. He/coaching staff, needs to keep him running north/south, not east/west.
Hillis is not one-dimensional at all. He's got multiple 100 yard receiving games in his career, and as a former fullback he's a very solid blocker. He's not the best running back in the world, but versatility is actually one of his greatest strengths. I agree about his running style, by the way.
Seriously though If Forte makes it to Free Agency, Tannenbaum would be smart to piece together funds to make a run at him. I think he's an ELITE RB, just used wrong in Chicago by Martz (although he's getting smarter this year) Forte on this Jets team would bring the ground and pound back in a big way. He's an every down back with the ability to run between the tackles, catch the ball in space AND the speed to run the edges and break the big one. I don't know if its possible but Forte in Green and White next year would be a perfect fit and a GREAT move for the Jets.
