you clearly haven't watched jones this year. he looks like zach last year. he's regressed https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/wiring-is-off-patriots-infuriated-by-qb-mac-jones/ar-AA1jFr1g
I've seen plenty of Jones. The guy has a 65% completion rating with WRs who never separate. You put him on a team with decent WRs and he's Goff.
jones as a rookie looked good. he regressed a little last year. this year he's been god awful. did you read the article at all? it quotes the NE coaching staff " According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the 2-7 Patriots have been underwhelmed with Jones' decisions, both before and after the snap. "One thing that’s really infuriated people in the building is the decision-making," Breer said Wednesday on NBC Sports Boston. "They’ve been sold this smart, efficient, game-managing quarterback and they’re not getting it." Breer explained that New England's coaching staff has grown frustrated by Jones ignoring open receivers, audibling into screen plays that have been blown up by the defense, and checking out of passing plays where he had an open target and instead opting for running plays with minimal gains."
zach looks awful too lol just a little less awful then jones. I'm not defending zach or saying he's great. i'm giving him a reasonable amount of blame for his play. others are just too unreasonable and over exaggerating how bad he is
So what you’re saying is 10 TD’s, 10 turnovers, 65% comp rate, 206ypg, and a passer rating of 80 is god awful, but 5 Tds, 8 turnovers, 59% comp rate, 200 ypg, and a passer rating of 75.4 is not as bad? Oh thats right; you don’t believe in stats. At least not the ones that discredit every point you make.
i'm saying read the articles about how the NE coaching staff feels about him right now and watch him and stop googling stats lol I trust billichicks opinion way more then stats. you realize he's regarded as the best coach all time and even he said and I quote "stats are for losers" but sure you know more about football then bellichick because you googled a number right?
At least they're honest in their assessment of the position, unlike our coaching staff. Imagine the reports out of NE if Zach was their QB.
What do you think Bellicheck would think of Zach right now? No one is saying Mac Jones is good, he’s not. Zach Wilson is worse. Much worse. Zach would’ve been jettisoned out of NE right now
I mean saleh has been honest. he said there are things he needs to work on and zach knows it as does the CS. the big difference between the 2 situations is the pats just don't have a good team and the jets do and that wilson was awful years 1 and 2 which led to us trading for rodgers and demoting him to a backup. so now he's a back-up and should be judged as such. Jones was good as a rookie and has been regressing and getting worse each year. as a rookie he looked like he could be a decent game manager type QB and now this year he's regressed into looking like he should be a backup meanhwile zach as a backup has played better then expected based on his history.
Mac Jones has been better than Zach this year, last year, and the year before. Mac hasn't been good this year. But between the two, it's not even close IMO. The Jets would have been better off if they drafted Mac Jones instead of Zach Wilson
not really. i'd say we were better off with zach. jones showed enough his 1st 2 years to get another shot. wilson made it clear he wasn't the answer and we traded for rodgers. jones will wind up being a daniel jones type hole on the team where he was good enough at times to maybe not get rid of but never good enough and downright awful at times.
this is just dumb that odd quote you went into the archives for is from 2009. Discussing one player and one game, a Patriots win. He wasn't making a philosophical statement about statistical analysis. The Patriots are one of the most analytical franchises out there because of Belichick's leadership, direction AND belief in numbers.
Mac Jones has also never lost to Zach Wilson either. So there is that. Mac Jones is pretty sucky though. I'm not complaining, its about time they had to deal with a QB who sucks like we have, this year, last year and almost every year of my life. (I'm an old man). If they had a talent like Garrett Wilson or Breece Hall though, I'd have to think Jones would look better than he has. Thank goodness they don't!
wasn't 1 game lol it was about randy moss's season and why his stats are down from the previous year and he said stats are for losers. and literally every coach says the same. it's all about film
That’s a complete misrepresentation of his stats are for losers quote and he spoke about it a year later. It was literally about a single game referring to Randy Moss’s effort, not his entire seasons production.
