I hope you consider me one of your "regular guys" Champ, even though I've been one of those snooty, under-cover Mezz guys for so long. Hey, we're going to be neighbors! Just think, you can sit next to me at the games and we can bust each others balls and look down on the Mezz guys shelling out all that dough.
No anger on my part, Chrisp. In fact, the more thinking "out loud" I'm doing while posting through the options here, the more sense it make for me. Now, that's ME. This doesn't hold true for a guy who's only had his seats for 3-4 years. If that guy weighs his options, he doesn't have the option I have (well, he does, but he'll be looking at nosebleeds because of his seniority). So for a guy like that with very littel seniority, maybe it does make more sense to take a swing at the PSLs. Like you say, to each his own. The only thing I am trying to point out (from plenty of years of experience, mind you), is that the Jets are absolutely brutal when it comes to hiking the prices on tickets they consider "premium." Buyer beware. If anything, it'll be a relief to get away from the "premium" seats anyway. The percentage of ticket prce hikes I've had over the years would choke a horse.
are you sure? i was told only until Dec 31st. i was already called by the Jets Ticket Office about the transfer was complete.
LOL.... looks like we've got all the good guys moving upstairs. This might be a lot of fun up there... all the old farts that told Woody to shove it. We'll all be up there PSL-free and lovin' it.
Yeah, I'm sure. The deadline is the end of January. I called ahead and verified it, then sent in the form "Return Receipt Requested" to make sure they sign for it and get it. It would not have been an issue if I was sure I'd be going through with the PSLs, but it is an issue if you're not. After Feb 1st you cannot transfer, even to a family member. Of course, if you buy the PSL, then you can transfer to anyone after (I think) 2011. I think that's the date he said.
Don't mind the anger if it is geared toward the opponent. Just fel as is some in the uppers in 2010 will feel slighted. I can understand. I paid $80 a seat for the lower endzone the past season. I know the uppers where my friend sits, the price was the same. What do you pay for the Mezz? Just curious.
It is not dumb. I would not say that. In this case the tickets have sentimental value to you and remind you of good times with your dad. Again I am not judging here. I am just curious as to when is enough enough. People will accept anything in small doses. Little things I see said here boggle the mind. Like the charge to pay for tickets. You have to pay a charge to pay? Amazing.
ha ha i know i was originally told jan 1st so i transferred into my 6 year old sons name. i have top sinority but im already in the upper deck section 312.(sunside behing jets bench 40 yard line.)
Another amazing attempt comes to mind. My brother was on the waiting list years ago when they attempted to charge him for being on the list. Just wow........paying to be on a excel spreadsheet.
The Mezz is the most expensive seat in the house. If memory serves, this past spring my four seats were like $4803. That would be $480 per game or $120 per ticket. I had the parking passes too... makes no sense to not get them. But this is what I'm saying... the Jets and Giants gouge the hell out of the "premium" seats. While other guys had 5% increases over the last 10 years or so, I was getting hit with 10-12% price increases. You can keep the Premium Seats. I won't touch them with a 10-foot pole, no now, not after shelling out a PSL for them. The PSLs are going to be Woody's hook. Once he sets the hook on those premium seats, he's got you. The price increases on those babies is going to be astronomical. You notice they've said nothing about that at all in any of their literature. No introductory guaranteed fixed prices. Just a huge, open-ended, indentured servant clusterfuck.
Hahahahahahaaa.a......... OMG, I forgot about that. You are TOO funny man. (Sorry Champ, couldn't resist laughing at that one). When we finally meet up in the Uppers in 2010, I'm gonna buy you a beer and hope like hell I can get removed from the list.
I'll feel better about the PSL I paid if the Jets put a Fng good product on the field. I'll really feel good about it if we host an AFC Championship game. Dream.
Well that's the whole thing. There are no guarantees the Jets will even be in the playoffs. It's great to be paying through the nose when you've got Monday Night Miracle games, etc. But I've been on the other side too... the years in which my "premium" seats were virtually worthless. You couldn't give them away. Couldn't get many people to go with you either, even if you had a couple of spares and they'd go for nothing. Sold a couple of my $100 seats in the parking lot before the game for $10... all I could get at the time... just to bail out. That's the gamble. The ticket's are great to have when we're winning and totally worthless losers when you're 4-12.
Just tracked mine and received US Postal Service confirmation that the envelope arrived at Florham Park. Are you saying they will call me and confirm? That would be nice. The more I've thought about it, this is the way for my family to go. We won't own any PSLs but we'll have the 4 tix in my son's name and that'll be good for the next two generations. I can either keep on going or let my kids divvy them up and go.
Just found out today about having to have tickets transferred by 1/31/09. Dad is getting that done today. Incidentially, you can do after 1/31/09, but it costs $50 per seat. Disturbing part of this whole things is that you cannot will the tickets to a family member after 2009 season. As explained to me by Jets if we kept tickets under Dad's name and he - God forbid - died the tickets would go back to the Jets and I would not even have the opportunity to purchase the tickets. It would go to the next guy on the waiting list. Has anyone had this told to them as well???
But wouldn't you want the option for your kids to pass them on as well? I have a 5 year old and another on the way and like the fact that i can transfer my tickets to them when I want.
