It was looking like Pryor was going to be a back up also, net addition to the cap was $512,283, Pryor at $1,587,717 and Davis at $2,100,000 The vast majority of the posters there and on other Browns forums posted things like this, "Pryor, although not good, is still an upgrade over the guys we have on the team.". Of course you are always going to have posters that go nuts over anything their team does, like a poster here after the 2015 season that was saying Pryor was an emerging star with pro bowl/all-pro potential. Some posters can't help claim every player on the team is going to be a superstar.
I'll admit that i was wrong about Pryor. Hasn't been the first and chances are won't be the last player I've been wrong about. It's just too easy being a hindsight is always 20/20 type of fan. Gotta admit when I'm wrong as a living room GM/Scout. I mean. Heading into the draft i wanted one of those big name WR's coming out. I also have a thing for SEC defensive kids so i would have much rather seen us take HaHa Clinton-Dix. Pryor was not the player i originally wanted but i began to warm up to him as our future Safety. Especially after our 2015 run. I could've sworn he was on the verge of becoming an NYJ house hold name. I thought his type of physical play could have been everything in which Kerry Rhodes wasn't. Even had hopes for him as a potential/future star but man was i wrong. Most of our team played poor last year but damn, Pryor himself fell off a cliff. Bad angles. Missed tackles. Blown coverages. Couldn't contain opposing TE's etc he looked just as bad @ the S position as J.Miller & K.Wilson looked at the CB position. It was ugly.
Your right it's worse,Davis has a bigger cap hit then Pryor so if we decide to cut him after training camp or the preseason it would be money well wasted again.
Wrong again, Davis has no guaranteed money,so if cut he will cost us exactly $0.considering Pryor was a likely cut we will have saved that $1.5m I think against the cap. Just cut your losses and stop posting in this thread, you are embarrassing yourself more than usual
You're wrong. Really wrong. And FJF just explained why while correcting you. It's obvious that Maccagnan loves our two SEC Safeties out of LSU and FLorida in Jamal Adams & Marcus Maye and simply wanted to move on from Calvin Pryor. It's really as simple as that.
Yikes... you're just wrong, factually wrong. Again. Like I said, this gimmick has run its course. Time to find a new one.

Add the fact that Revis was basically a corps and our LB could not cover the middle of the field and you got to wonder how we won any games at all. Bowles had his fingerprints all over the dreadful defensive performance and his DC was a disgrace. I can't not help but think that we will look a hell of a lot better this year with all the youngsters on that side of the ball. If not, both of the above mentioned guys need to get their walking papers. Our D with the talent we have added should be one hell of a lot better.
Unless DD has drastically improved in CLEV, he looks like a no-brainer cut or a significant pay cut to me. The end result will be NYJ saves 1.5mm cap space for next year when it may matter. No need to pay 4mm in this case IMO.
He could be cut and brought back after week one on a vet min. deal that wouldn't be guaranteed. I can see that as his best chance right now of playing for us this year. That would offer decent cap savings also. Cap savings that wasn't available just cutting Pryor like l.i.b. suggested
We traded a bad player for a bad player. The good news, is the bad player we received can be cut with no penalty. Lets not make something out of nothing. This was a swap of two bad players. Thats it.
i enjoy football. only in football can you have people be ok with peds, say they dont care about the guys well being as long as they win and hen have folks who want all the guys they pay to kill people be these nice guys who live in houses with pickett fences. and if they dont fit that mold they must be gotten rid of. they are a cancer or a distratction.
