I have two ways of looking at the Brett Farve situation. Either is contingent on him actually communicating with the Jets and confirming he plans to play football . One , Brett will re-work his deal and add two years. So it would be 3 years with 6-8 Million signing bonus. There is just no way they are going to fork over 13 million. Two , Brett is using us as his way of getting back into a division that he feels comfortable with. If Brett is cut , he will definitely be contacted by teams in the NFC and I think that's been his plan all along ; Realizing that Green bay would never release his within his own conference/Division.

We need to be proactive here. Id hate to enter into next season with a solid line and a reinvigorated Defense , but just like the last 3-4 years ,questions at QB.

I think that Brett needs to move on. His heart is not here. And D'Brick's comments as well as Thomas Jones indicates that. If I'm coming to a new place I would try to make a place for myself with the team and fit in. After all it is Brett who has to prove himself to these guys not the other way around. He just might be too long in the tooth to do that at this point in his life and it his choice, but I do think it is not the best way to ingratiate yourself with a new team.

Most people make a decision and stick with it. This soap opera has gone on with Favre for 4 years now. It is far more than a difficult decision. It is a clear indication of pure selfishness, incredible indecisiveness (not a good trait in a QB) and the stark inability to accept that his skills have declined and his career is over.

The owner, the GM & the coach have all said they want him back so if he wants to be back he will.

thats what i was gonna say. i believe its true, but i believe they wont give him forever to decide. i believe i read somewhere they told him they want a decision at the latest, by the end of the combine so they can set their draft board.

and we all know the players said theyre fine with him coming back as long as he participates in camp. which is a must when ur 40 and spending your 2nd year with a new team.

The way to treat a 40 year old HOF player is to put a bust of him in the office, not make a bust of him on the field.

It is funny how all of you guys are blaming Favre but the bottom line is this 1 we could not stop the pass all year we were winning cause our O scored the 3rd most points in Jet history Favre had alot to do with that. 2 After a 8 & 3 start we could not stop the run anymore well guess what all you armchair QB'S if you cant stop the run or the pass YOU WILL NEVER WIN PERIOD. 3 Mangini did not play to win he sucked 4 Sutton refused to rush the QB with his 3 man rush & his prevent D 5 Our WR'S are not good they are # 3's on other teams they do not catch the ball unless it hits them right in the hands on Green Bay Driver & Jennings if you throw it in there direction they come down with it. The point is there is alot of blame to go around not just Favre.

The D sucked the running game sucked and Favre sucked. What's wrong with pointing out that Favre sucked and is 40? Favre didn't even throw in the direction of our WR's down the stretch. Donald Driver had as much a chance to catch Favre's passes playing in MN as Coles did playing on the same field.

Also for all the guys that think that Kellen or Ratliff are going to just come in & manage the game & we are going to win off of our D & running the ball guess what IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ! The Ravens have the best D in football & it is 10 times better than ours we need Favre until Ryan has a year or 2 to make our D great it is not going to happen overnight we need a corner, saftey, WR & a MLB (if they do not resign Barton) this aint fantasy football or madden where you snap your fingers & everything is fixed

It wasn't a different era? It was a totally different era and you show no knowledge of the game if don't realize that. Things started to change towards the end of Joe's career, but in the old AFL things were very different. In fact there was one huge difference from then until today. Let's see if you can figure out what it was. Heck, go ahead and try to google it if you want.

You are correct. We need Favre . . . to retire. The Jets have a new coach, the team is beginning a new era; they don't need a washed up 40-year old asshole leading them.

After a 9-7 season? you act like the Jets hadn't won as many as 9 in 30 years. We were 10-6 2 years ago. Brett held us back all year, we won in spite of him starting 8-3 and he kileld us down the stretch BUT I want him back b/c w/ a full year w/ us I think he'll be alot better next year.

Was he a washed up asshole when the Pack were 13 & 3 last year & lost in overtime in the NFC championship & this year they have the same team but went 6 & 10 ? Or did it happen when he had 6 TD'S vs the Cards (who happen to be in the Super Bowl) Or was it when we were 8 & 3 & we just beat the Pats at the Pats & the Titans at the Titans which one was it please let us know.

The Jets with Favre can be the Cards of this year we finally have a coach & a D coordinator that know what they are doing. Look at the Cards & look at the Jets we have a better team than them we have a better O line, TE'S, RB'S, D line, & LB'S they only have better WR'S & a better secondary but that is it. If we have a coach who can coach we have the talent to win but not without a QB.

Ehh im not a Favre fan and I want him gone but we didnt win in spite of him when we were 8-3. That New England game was the biggest win of the year and Favre was brilliant (I think thats when he hooked me in). He almost sunk us but brought us back as well in the KC game. Threw 6 TD's against the Cards and put together strong performances in Tennessee and Buffalo.

And my reply was that Jets fans don't revere him for being perfect. They revere him for winning the Super Bowl. If Favre had got the team to the playoffs and won one or two or maybe the whole thing, nobody would give a damn about the interceptions. Favre, at the critical part of the season, failed in the stats column and in the win column.

Was THAT so hard to figure out?

As for the rest of your response - the stuff about Joe not having played in a different era - I won't comment on that.

he was great at NE BUT we lost the 1st one to NE in large part b/c of him, we lost at oak b/c our QB could only lead us to 13 pts in 5 qtrs, we struggled w/ KC, Cincy and others b/c he turned it over a million times.

I believe there were years that Namath did not win the Superbowl either.
