Who doesn't know what they're talking about? Warmups? Really?

During warmups QBs will get down on both knees and throw for 60 yds. Tebow's been known to hit the goal post crossing repeatedly doing that stunt. Doesn't mean it's do-able in a real game situation.

man trust me, take some friendly advice, your game needs serious upping.... any T-Hater that argues the Bears game is a rookie T-Hater at best, even HOF haters like CC and Phaytal fade away from it after a post or two...

Big difference between the two cupcake. Coaches look to see what kickers can do during the warmups and take that into account when deciding whether to try a FG or not.

When you kicker bombs them through from 70 in Denver during warm ups, it gives the coach confidence that he can hit from 60 during the game.

BTW<, funny that you only commented on Denver's "almost impossible kicks" but you completely ignored the fact that the Bears hit one from 57 freaking yards.

Like I said, you don't know wtf you are talking about.

You do realize that (according to ESPN's stats) with the HUGE advantage of kicking in Denver where the thin air lets kicks travel sooo much farther, Matt Prater only made two FGs over 50 yds in 2011? Both in the Bears game? Or that the 59-yarder tied Prater's career long record?

Of course not. Because that would mean that your boy Tebow didn't do something fabulous and set up an easy chip shot that Prater couldn't miss.

Looks to me like you are engaging in typical Tebowner behavior - when you can't honestly answer a criticism of Tebow you personally attack the critic with namecalling (hater) and dismissing the critque without bothering to address it (you don't know what you're talking about).

You need to up your game and try some intelligent responses instead of ad hominem attacks...

Yeah, Tim really lit it up in the Bears game. Seven 3-and-outs, 8 punts, a pick, and a fumble. All that, and having Marion Barber as our secret weapon on offense.

I would feel sorry for you, except you provide far too much comedy relief.

here we go. You have become Ricardo Montalban and In your fantasy Island mind you have revised history, with CC as your tatoo , unfortunately for you I still remember what occurred .

you have to stop parsing stats. If you want to go and speak about the first 3 quarters then Thomas' drop (went right through his hands...and incidentally tebow tells him on the sideline that it will be ok and he will catch the game winner...but I digress..) it would have sealed the game with no overtime and no Barber counter heroics needed .

You want to play stat book all day and ,that is ok, but the truth is that tebow had a FANTASTIC 8 minutes. 18/24 191 yards with a TD is AWESOME stats at any level in 8 minutes, against anyone , anywhere and that was a very tough Chicago bears defense which was ranked 5th last year against the pass...FIFTH and they had no significant injuries. You are babbling about what happened the first 3 quarters in a game that was WON by your team, a game were tebow PASSED the football lights out against a top 5 defense in the CLUTCH.

For you to try and diminish it just shows me and everyone else what you are about....please continue....you are showing your disciple Dennis bad form though , so its best for you to bring up the last 3 games of the season last year in your next post....

Ummm, I DID address the critique, immediately after saying that that you didn't know what you were talking about. I did so by pointing out that those FGs were in Denver where the ball travels farther on FG attempts.

Wow, the 59 yarder against the Bears TIED his career high, which was also kicked in Denver. Guess what that would tell a coach ? Yep, you guessed it, it would tell the coach that he could kick it from that distance, seeing as how he had done it in a game before.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that you claimed that "MATT PRATER put two almost impossible kicks thru the uprights"

Those "Almost impossible kicks" you described were 59 and 51 yards. Oh yeah, "Almost impossible" huh? 51 freaking yards in Denver ? Almost impossible ?

It's kind of difficult for me not to laugh my ass off at you right about now.

Hold it, give me just a sec.

    BWHAHAHAHHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Ok, that's better.

BTW, you do know that the longest FG in NFL history is 63 yards and it's been done 4 times. 2 (TWO) of those were IN DENVER, you know, where the AIR IS THINNER and the BALL TRAVELS FURTHER ??

Oh, as to your really stupid point about Tebow supposedly not setting up Prater for chip shots, I offer this for your consideration:

This year, with Peyton Manning @ QB:

    Versus Houston
FG 00:01 Matt Prater 53 Yd

    Versus Oakland
FG 03:43 Matt Prater 53 Yd

    Versus Carolina
FG 10:12 Matt Prater 53 Yd

Man, it sure is sad that Manning "didn't do something fabulous and set up an easy chip shot that Prater couldn't miss."

Okay, if you have to put Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow at the same level to defend your positon then you've got nothing.

Bwahahahahah, you're the one making ignorant statements here Dennis. You complained that Tebow wasn't setting Prater up for chip shots, yet with the great Peyton Freaking Manning, Prater has had 3 FGs of 50+ yards as well.

In other words, I just completely invalidated your argument.

As CowboysFan said, you really need to up your game because you are getting schooled like a third grader every time you open your mouth.

Now, if it doesn't bother you to come across as ignorant and ill informed, then by all means, keep it up as it does provide some comedic value.

Rex didn't want him, and I'm not entirely sure Tanny wanted him. It was and is a publicity stunt.

I'm guessing he was the lowest rated quarterback in history in the first three quarters last year.

This year he's the done a great job riding pine and missing blocking assignments on the punt squad.

    When's his next start?

    You kidding?

He gets compared to Elway and Steve Young. It is pointed out that they struggled too, and therefore, Tebow should get every bit as much of the benefit of the doubt those two got.

...at the same time, Tebow STILL puts the ball into the dirt. Tebowners will come out in droves and say it's all about ball security...

No, he just plain sucks. ...and that is why he's on the bench.

Pretty close. His numbers are a lot like JaMarcus Russell, and he's out of the league. If not for Tebow being good against prevent defenses... errr... defenses changing from containment to "bend but not break" against really shitty teams ...and only AFTER the defense kept him in it for 60 minutes.

Tebow would have been long forgotten. Wonder if Russell would have lasted as long had he had a defense bailing him out all day?

    Please explain why he shouldn't.

Steve Young first 16 starts - Tampa Bay has one of the worst defenses in the league (#28 and #27) and Young has a 3-13 record in his first 16 starts.

John Elway first 16 starts - Denver has one of the best defenses in the league (#9 and #2) and Elway has a 10-6 record in his first 16 starts.

Tim Tebow first 16 starts - Denver has one of the worst defenses in the league (#32 and #24) and Tebow has a 9-7 record in his first 16 starts.

So, Denver's defense with Tebow was pretty equivalent to the Tampa Bay defense that Young had, but Tebow's W/L record is much closer to Elway's, who had a vastly superior defense in his first 16 starts. Please give a logical explanation why Tebow can't be compared to them at the same period in their careers?

You can try all you want to prop up this argument about the Denver defense carrying Tebow, but the argument just won't stand based on the statistical evidence. And if you're giving the Denver defense credit for the wins, then they also get the blame for Denver's losses. You can't have it both ways.

You're never going to comvince me to use the win loss stat as the reason for whether or not to keep the guy. It's a TEAM game, and there are 21 other guys on the field at any given time. You just can't compare the record like that head to head when there are far too many variables. Especially when talking about comparisons in eras that are separated by THREE DECADES.

Did you catch Elway during his SECOND year? It was like night and day. There was obviously enough improvment observed by the coaches to warrant sticking with him. By the end of Tebow's second year, he didn't look ANY better throwing it after 16 games than he did on draft day. You can bet the Bronco front office took note of that, ESPECIALLY when the league is heading toward more of a passing game and featured running backs are going out way of the dinosaur.

Bobby Douglas wouldn't have a career today either and Tebow is Essentially Bobby Douglas. Google him and watch the 5 minute video on Douglas. Very exciting player, great runner, has records unlikely to be broken. ....and some say might have been more inaccurate than even Tim Tebow!!!

Check this out, and insert Tebow's name and tell me this comparison isn't UNCANNY!!! Left hander too. Not a slam at all, just think Tebow was born about 35-40 years too late.

Actually, head to head comparisons are made all the time, but I didn't make one in this case, I noted one of the most important variables, which is the Defensive ranking of the team. Tebow had a record nearly identical to Elway's even though he was playing with a Defense nearly as bad as Young's. If one isn't allowed to make a comparison like that then you might as well just not compare QB's at all, or any player on the team, because they're all playing behind different offensive lines, different playcalling, etc. So, you're ready to stop making any offensive player comparisons from now on, right?

Elway did start to improve in his 2nd year of starts, but I'm not sure that's saying much considering how awful he was in his first 10 starts in 1983. He was still wildly inconsistent in 1984. It was commonplace for his completion % to gyrate 15-30% every other week. As bad as Elway was in his 1st year, I question whether he would have even gotten a 2nd year in this current age of instant gratification and QB expectation. Oh by the way, at the end of Elway's first 16 starts and Tebow's first 16 starts, two of their most important stats look like this:

    Passing TD's:

    Elway - 11
    Tebow - 18

    Interceptions:

    Elway - 21
    Tebow - 9

So Tebow had twice as many TD's as INT's, and Elway had basically just the opposite. Well hot dang, if there was ever a clear cut case showing that a guy couldn't cut it in the league, this one really does it for Tebow, huh? Unfortunately for the Tebow haters, a QB's completion % in games doesn't count towards or against your point total at the end of the game. Only actual points count, and looking at Tebow's stats, you, phaytal and every other Tebow hater in existence would say they were good for a QB's first 16 NFL starts, unless his name is Tebow, in which case you say they're proof he'll never be an NFL QB.

    :rofl2:

This comparison is absurd on a couple levels. For starters, Douglass' stats after his first season's worth of starts were more akin to Elway's than to Tebow's, as he had nearly twice as many INT's as he did TD passes. Secondly, Douglass' career completion % as a QB at Kansas was nearly 20% less than Tebow's career completion % at Florida. Douglass never proved that he could be accurate passing the football. Tebow, on the other hand, proved over a 3 year period to be more accurate and efficient passing the football than most other QB's in NCAA history. You're pretty dense sometimes, but I would guess even you can see the distinction there.
