For all the shit Jets fans have been giving this guy. Huge part of the Jets W today. That onside kick
Braden Mann MVP of the first Jets win of 2022! And BTW the Jets special teams have been good through all the losing of the last few seasons. They're the only part of the team that has not surrendered year after year.
everyone wanted him cut after last week. If he was then we probably dont win today. He had that huge 4th down pass that led to a TD, he punted very well including 2 inside the 20, and topped it off with the onside kick.
What a 180. Not only was his punting better but the fake punt and onside kick. Great job responding and then some. Hope it's a turning point
For those calling him "awful".... This guy holds (error-free I believe, including a 57 yarder today), kicks off, can throw now as we see, has a great on-side kick, and is the best kicker/punter tackler in the game. He also has a booming leg that is currently not being consistent. You're gonna trade all that in because our opponents' punter is booting it 5 yards further per punt? That's why you aint an NFL GM. Braden Mann does a LOT for this team- it's the kind of stuff a young team needs that's trying to establish a new identity,
Just curious, which member of his family are you. We are all part of the Jets family here, you can tell us.
Of course Mann was at his best.. But this game was a glimmer of hope for first time in 10 years we have a CS that schemes to win each game ..cause every one of them are different! So I gotta see a repeat performance from Saleh and the Jets Coaching department next week
To be fair, he’s been shanking at least one punt a game it seems. And his punt average is near the bottom of the league. This was by far his best game as a pro. I felt he’s great at pinning the ball inside the 20 but he’s put the team in tough situations between the shanks and needing him to boom a kick 60-70 yards to flip field position. I hope he’s found a groove though. Rooting for him.
I was super impressed with the pass he made. That was not your typical fake punt play were the receiver was wide open. He actually had to make a very accurate throw to a guy that was defended well.
Fortunately the front office understands you dont throw the baby out with the bathwater. You cant just find a replacement PUNTER that has all the skills B Mann has, but you CAN fix a shanking problem pretty easily. for the record, he currently ranks 22nd in punting avg, and 13th in % inside the 20. not great but not horrible, even with shanking a few. There are plenty of unemployed Punters that can avg 47+; there’s a good reason the Jets arent out there signing them.
