Players that SHOULD make it: Kris Jenkins Darrelle Revis Thomas Jones Mangold Leon Washington (returner) Wright (special teams) Guys that WILL make it: Favre Leon (special teams)
Jets that should make it based on any criteria you can logically use: Jenkins- 1 or 2 as far as top interior linemen go in the entire NFL. Depends if you like Haynesworth better or not. My only problem with Jenkins is stamina and maybe that is why other teams can run the Jets ragged with the no huddle shit. I think they just try and tire out Jenkins and the Jets get no push. Anyhow when he is on his game there is no better disruptive force. Revis- lockdown, shutdown corner anyway you slice it. Yes the pass defense on the Jets stinks as a unit but the only blame you can lay on Revis is that he is so good the other teams pick on the weaker links on the Jets D and it really exposes them. Washington- He has won 3 games this year alone. He has been amazing. I still think this CS under-utilizes him. The fact remains, since the Raider game, they are at least trying to get him more involved as an integral part of this offense..... Thank god they saw what we did those prior weeks..... just give him the damn ball. Jets that should/could be in based on the loose criteria people are using: Ferguson- If Mangold "deserves" it then Ferguson certainly does because he has been the way better player this year but please do not let facts get in the way. He also has been improving every game. He is getting better and better especially with his weak point, run blocking. He has been pretty much lockdown with what LT's get paid to do.... pass block. Wright- Every important ST tackle, I look up and # 15 is the one who made it. He has a spot on the team for as long as he wants just for special teams alone, he is that important/good. Rhodes- I can not honestly say whether it is the fact he is covering for the weak spots on this defense or the other teams are staying away but he has not made enough big plays so far for all the talent he has. I would vote him in strictly because the last 2 years he has been the better safety compared to all the big names, at least stat wise.....and that is by far. Pace- He hasn't been the force since Harris went down. For obvious reasons he has to do way too f-ing much! Mangold- Playing better then in the beginning of the season, thank god because he was mediocre at the start of the season. Ellis- His one big problem is that he is a 3-4 DLman and they are not stat compilers and never will be. Cant hold that against him though. It is proven again that if he is not the best lineman on the team or focal point, Ellis can be great. Jenkins takes up so much game planning by the opposition that Ellis can really shine. Jones- A very good but not great back. Favre- Too many turnovers and shitty games that counter balance all the good that he does....... Strictly for Pro-bowl voting. He is still a great QB when the game is on the line. Faneca- Very good run blocker not so good at pass blocking. Cotchery- If he had that little more speed he could be in the top 5 in the league. He is what he is and I think most any team save for Arizona would give their left nut to have him line up for them. He is money when the ball is with in arms length of him.
I think D'Brick should be in. A few more big games and Keller can make it. I'd call last game an emergence, wouldn't you?
skill positions: QB: Cutler, Rivers, Manning, Warner, Brees, Ryan RB: Thomas Jones, Steve Slaton, Ronnie Brown, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Brandon Jacobs WR: Wayne, Ward, Cotchery, Boldin, White, Fitzgerald I'm also going to vote for Mangold, Jenkins, Revis, Leon, and Rhodes. edit: Whoops, forgot Rhodes, Revis, and Mangold.
Keller (top 3 TE by end of year), Favre (no doubt), Jenkins has to go, Leon Washington as a returner, Revis Bubble: Rhodes (still one of the best easily), Mangold, Ellis has ability but not a big name
ageed with that list pretty much. The top three in my eyes are shoo-ins. Wallace Wright I also expect to make the squad based on coaches votes and NFL votes, he leads the league in ST tackles by i believe 3 or 4, which is a HUGE margin in special teams, I think he has 21 tackles to date. Leon would be a shoo in for returner if Cribbs didnt just have 2 rediculous returns per season. They just stick out in fans minds and go HOLY shit! Leon on the other hand just runs by everyone, pretty much unspectacularly. So barring another TD or three down the stretch expect Leon to be snubbed once again. as stated Rhodes doesnt have the numbers, and Ellis isnt a flashy guy who gets major headlines across the country so he is an under-rated guy by fan perspective. Cotchery and Coles are having great years, and they are immensely comparable, either one could sneak in, but i doubt it. If one sneaks in, it will be either because he caught 3 td's in a half (Coles vs. Arizona) or had the second most ludicrous catch against a helmet in NFL history on National TV on a thursday night (Cotchery vs. New England) for them to steal enough fan votes. And also as stated, Favre will get in, because for the love of God he is Brett Favre, and AFC QB's have been pretty weak this season. My bets on AFC Pro Bowlers at the QB position are Rivers, Favre and Cassel (Shocker! I know, but New englanders will vote like hell for this kid to make it to the pro bowl)
