To argue that Favre merely beat himself is to imply that the same logic works on what happened last year... That is, the Fins merely beat themselves in the last 4 games, and the Jets did not get into the playoffs on their own merit.
Everyone that is out this week was out when the Jets played their best half of football this year. The only people harping on the injuries are people looking for reasons why the Jets should lose. The Jets should win, I expect them to win and I won't be the least bit surprised when they do win.
you should probably watch the games before joining a football discussion on a messageboard. But i'm not going to put a lot of starch into what you're saying...since you won't even be here on Monday.
I'm not buying into this Dolphin defense just yet. They were absolutely God-awful last year, and while I do think they could be improved this year ... what have they actually faced so far? The Bills have an awful offense, and an awful QB who's already lost his job in week 3. I watched the Vikings move the ball all over them for 22 first downs in week 2, but they couldn't execute in the Red Zone. They controlled the clock for 36 minutes, and ran 72 plays to the Dolphins' 46 plays. Granted, Miami came up big with two 4th down stops including one that saved the game ... but by and large the Vikings moved the ball very well with no Rice, a hobbled Harvin, and a rusty Favre. I'll be shocked if we don't score at least 21 points on that defense.
Mike Nolan is known to have his defenses start out like a house on fire. Look @ Denver last year. His big criticism is how he ends seasons. I read an article that stated, when teams figure out a Nolan defense, he doesn't adjust well. Again, look @ Denver last year. I will look for the article, it was very interesting. It basically said that he is a good DC but he isn't great @ adjusting and such. How that works in a week 3 game we shall see. Anyway, his defense is similar to the Jets. Rex is more of the innovator on D, so I would expect the Jets O to be prepared because they face their D every week in practice. That said, the Fins D is a good one and they are going to be very prepared. It should be a good close game.
If your pick accuracy is under 50%, you are doing worse than a 2-year old who decides his picks by flipping a coin in the air. So if Prickso is an "expert," I guess we all are.
schotty isn't exactly known for his ability to adjust to a defense. look at week 1. He does have his moments though. It would be great if he could crack the code in week 3 for the rest of the NFL and leave Nolan struggling to find an answer.
I agree with Douche bag...they get us this week and we'll get the W when they come to play us. Whether or not You want to admit it...the Dolphins are a good team. Its going to be close.
Honestly I think the Dolphins are the most over rated team in the NFL. Against the worst team in the NFL all they could muster in Buffalo was 13 points on offense. A five point win against the worst team in the NFL. The next week GB put a 34 burger on Buffalo's plate. Against Minnesota, Miami's total offensive yardage was a paltry 226 yards. Favre with no one to throw to, made some awful decisions. The 3 INT's wasn't that Miami forced them, they were unforced errors commtted by a QB who is all banged up and forcing the ball. 7 penalties on MIN didn't help much. The Miami defense gave up 364 yards, while all Miami was able to muster 226, the second time it's offense could not break the 300 yard mark. They didn't even break 300 yards against the Bills. They had to punt 7 times against the lowly Bill's defense. They punted 6 times against MIN. The Miami offense has only 2 TD's in two games. That is how many the Bills have on the season. The Miami defense? New Orelans held MIN to NO TD's. Miami gave one up to them though. GB held the Bills in week two to one score as well. The Miami D is not as good as some people think it is. Stats wise, the offense has been pretty anemic, both in yardage and points scored. Rude wake up call for Phins Phans this week. Now you have to play a real NFL team.
Being how much i depise the dolphins i cant ever bring my self to think that the jets can lose to them before the game was even played. ( no offense to HOI) I dont even think they are a good team. Even with our injuries we have the better team walking into the stadium. It's freaking only 2 games in and everyone is jumping on the defense of the dolphins... un freaking believable. I think this week they get exposed.
With how our defense has looked in the first 2 weeks... we may not need to score with offense, lol. We dropped 2 easy pick 6's in week 1, and created a TD last week.
Yeah Schotty is a weird coach. His big problem is he outsmarts himself. Tries to do things outside the box that in hindsight are pretty dumb. Like that rain game against Denver, Sanchez and the Bills last year, fucking head scratchers. I think he is capable of finding the so called kryptonite for Mike Nolan, whether he does or not.. I wish he would coach the offense like Rex and Pettine coach the D. That would be something special I think. However, that might be predicated on Sanchez's development more than anything.
Miami's secondary has played fantastic the past 2 weeks. Forced 3 INTs (actually 4) last week, and dropped a couple of easy pick 6's against Buffalo. They are creating back there. Vontae's game has taken the next step. Jason Allen all of a sudden is playing like he wasnt a bust? (hard to buy into this still) And Chris Clemons looks to be a major upgrade over Gabril Wilson. The pass rush has also been very good... which helps.
