My point was that, just because a team has to turn to its backup, it doesn't mean that team is dead in the water IF that team is constructed well as a whole. How about this example: Jeff Hostetler took over for the Giants in December of the '90-'91 season. The Giants went on to win the SB with him at the helm.
So why wouldn't it be a positive that the line collapsed last year and we only went 8-8? It could have been way worse. It would be nice if the FO could predict the future, but last I checked we haven't hired any psychics to help Tanny and Rex with draft picks.
