This is geno last year idont see the jets signing this guy. They going to stick with petty and hack. this is the future. 2 young Qb's with great arm. Is crazy to give up on petty this kid can good for us. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
How do you know he's not there yet? Just curious. I thought Geno and Petty had similar performances last night. The biggest difference between the two for me was that Petty looked more comfortable moving around the pocket. Geno looked stiff back there. Looks like we have a good amount of talent at WR too. So if we're going to keep an extra wide receiver that makes it more difficult to keep 4 QB's. Makes a lot more sense to keep more WR's when they also play special teams. This FO has much more stock in Petty than Geno, who they obviously don't value very much.
I'm feeling a lot better about the team after seeing them actually play. This coaching staff is great I think, they know how to use the personnel they have, the defense is going to be more than solid, and we have some great young talent like Enunwa. Ron
I totally agree regarding Amaro's lack of athleticism. I said as much last week and was killed for it by a couple of posters who claimed he was very athletic. I also agree with you regarding keeping Ross over Thompkins. I think it's better to keep two guys who can be effective returners than keep one and then be screwed if he gets hurt. The only thing I disagree with is Hack. I understand wanting to see him, but don't think he "needs" any reps. He's not gonna play this season. Gailey said that they've only made a couple of suggestions to him regarding his mechanics, and won't try to change/overhaul his mechanics until after the season so that Hack has the complete off season to focus and work on them as he would need thousands of reps, not just a few hundred (if that).
Hopefully it won't come to losing one of our young talented WRs even if they keep 4 QBs. I think there's room for 4 QBs and 6 WRs.
The kid has talent and speed. He hasn't played in a over a year and I'm sure was nervous. If he still looks this bad after all 4 preseason games, fine, get rid of him, but for now, imo it's silly to give up on him.
Did you quote me wrong? Or is my tapa messed up? My post wasn't that long. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
milliner was terrible in every aspect of football in that game. coverage was awful, instincts hwere awful, ball skill/playing the ball in the air was awful, tackling was awful, and blew a coverage he isnt good enough to be an nfl player.
I don't think you're gonna see much more of him after preseason. I will be surprised if he makes the roster. I think Middleton beats him out for the 4th S spot.
Why cause Middleton got that lucky INT with the 6th stringers?? Miles was all over the field last night
I was a bit disappointed in Geno's play. He looked nervous or like he was pressing on the first two series then seemed to settle down after he was booed. I was also mildly surprised by Petty's play. Based on the accounts I've read, he hasn't had a very good TC or OTAs, but looked the part. One thing that surprised me a little is that the knocks on Petty previously have been on his lack of ability to play from under center, lack of knowledge in how to play QB, and reading Ds. Recently I've read a comment or two about his having problems with accuracy in TC and then last night had some accuracy issues. He does look more poised and confident, and definitely looks the part of an NFL QB. I'm rooting for him. If only one of the Jets young QBs can develop and work out, I'd almost rather he be the one rather than Hackenberg, but that's just due to how they played in college. I agree with you regarding the WRs. Was disappointed in Mauldin's play specifically, but as a whole, the whole LB corps had a bad night (except for Lee).
my guess is they both make the team. Middleton as backup FS, and Miles backup SS and starting special teams coverage units.
How do you rationalize that? Petty has zero experience playing in the NFL, much less starting. If Fitz gets injured, would you really want to put the season in Petty's hands, when he's still raw and learning? Geno doesn't make that much more than Petty. He is very cheap for a QB with that much starting and playing experience.
I totally disagree with your description of those two plays. On Geno's TD to Peake, the ball was thrown to the outside where only Peake could make a play on the ball. The CB was to the inside. On Petty's plays he flat out overthrew the receiver on one play and held the ball too long on the other.
Middleton has been getting LOTS of kudos in TC about his physicality in playing the run and his coverage ability. Miles is a hard hitter, but doesn't have the coverage ability of Middleton.
